I made mistake in the last question, the part about thrust I didn't really remember that it's in the opposite direction to the tension. I used that for one particle only, for the other I wrote thrust in the same direction as the tension acting on it.
Does anybody know how many marks I'll lose on it? I used the right method though to find the distance the paricle P moved after force 4N was removed.

I know this question is not realted to M1 exam. But how to get an A* at A level Maths? I heard you need 180 UMS on average in C3 and C4 but then someone else told me you need to get 90 and above in each C3 and C4. But then why do M2 have A* grade bouandries?

I think thats for Further Maths because you only need 90ums average between C3 and C4. But Further Maths is 90 ums average between all 3 modules

Well 90 average on your 3 best A2 units.

Maths is 90 UMS average across C3,4 (which is obviously the same as having more than 180 UMS total in the two - if you can't do that you don' stand a chance! :P) plus 80UMS average for the rest.

Further maths is 90 UMS average across three best A2 units (any of FP2-3, M2-5, S2-4, D2) instead of specifying which it should be. Additional is the same.

My raw mark would be 71-73 according to Arsey's suggested answers. I was lucky enough to have solved a 7 marks mistake in the last 5 mintues.
Hope the UMS would be higher than the raw marks in the end.

Btw, thank you Arsey for spending the time to work out and upload the answers, it should have helped so many people.

UMS, Uniform Mark Scale, is a normalised scale so that grades can be standardised and fair year to year.

So no-one knows the UMS boundaries yet, until all the papers have been marked and they look at the spread of results. If lots of people have done very well (which seems to be the case) they will be quite close together, and quite high.

Arsey has provided estimates in the OP on this thread.

I aint even gonna look at the solutions. I think people who sit the exam and then look at the solutions the next day are just stressing themselves out. I know if I look at the solutions I'll just start worrying about my grade.

I tried every question on the paper so hopefully most of them were right, but if most weren't. Well......I'd rather worry about that when I get my results.

72/75... got the thrust as -0.125 at first and thought "That cant be right" so I played around with the numbers and got 2.125N
Do you guys think I'll get 1 mark for using F=ma and showing working for 9e? I ended up making it 1-T=0.3*-3.75
I did exactly the same, tried to do it for the particle in front first, got -0.125, scribbled the sh*t out of my paper then did it for the particle behind and got the same as you!

Can someone please tell me if I will I loose marks for significant figures ???

For my value of the coeffient of the plane I got 0.0137 (which is in this mark scheme) and clearly crossed it out and wrote 0.014, since i thought that was more appropriate ??

Also for the last questin on vectors the distance on the mark scheme is 17/8 km ... but I divided that and wrote the exact number i got.... 1.125km

for Q2... i wrote the magnitude of Q is 1.47 instead of 1.5 as indicated here
