Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTjudging by past m1 papers and keep in mind this was the easiest, the problem with high grade boundaries you will get hit hard if you make one slip up...i.e 1 mark will cost you at least 3ums marks(Original post by AS01)
what do you think grade boundaries will be?
100': 75
90':70
80':66-68
no knowledge of lower boundaries -

Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTThat makes no sense and you are sitting on the fence with a 3 mark span on 66-68.(Original post by Theafricanlegend)

If you lose, and I quote "at least 3 UMS per mark" then 70 raw is 85 UMS, 66 raw is 73 UMS and 68 raw is 79. None of those match your guesses.
Perhaps just wait for the boundaries/results to come out? -
Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTLOL. Firstly those boundaries are inconsistent and secondly this wasn't the easiest m1 paper ever.(Original post by Theafricanlegend)

Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTThe general feedback from my good students is that it was fine.(Original post by Theafricanlegend)
ah okaaaaay! so you think that this paper is easy? just like me..
Many less able students will not have liked the question about the soft ground and the final question.
Overall though I think it will favour mid range students who can be very accurate rather than very gifted as such. -
Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTi think if you answered the soft ground question and the end part question of q7 you would stand a good chance of 100ums(Original post by kozo)

Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTyeah okay but find me an easier paper in the past?(Original post by -Lychee)
hmm you cant say this paper is VERY easy, hence the soft groud question and the thrust part of the last question can be a bit tricky.. i think 62-63 marks for 80UMS will be about right... -

The kinematics question was weird; 30cm seems way too high, I can see why it would have caused confusion.(Original post by kozo)

Re: Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTi know what you mean, the question itself is quite easy to get around with, but, the calculated answer can be confusing, hence the soft ground one =.=(Original post by Theafricanlegend)
