Whatevs
Paper was fairly easy compared to pass papers. Just hope grade boundaries aren't pushed too high.

Re: C2 May 2012 Edexcel - Post Exam Thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTThe trapezium rule was a very nice question(Original post by mzayn)
Yeah...Like the integration question, think it was 7 marks? Though I think that was my favourite question in the paper :P -
Yeah, very straightforward. The trig question tripped me up though. Only got 2 out of the 5 solutions. Hadn't seen a question like that before.(Original post by Theafricanlegend)

Re: C2 May 2012 Edexcel - Post Exam Thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTI hadn't seen a question like that either. I figured it out a really strange way, in that I used the original to draw two lines on a graph, and the intersections are the solutions. I got 4/5 of the solutions (would've had all 5 but made a silly mistake). I thought I'd lose the marks because of poor method, but I saw the official mark scheme and it didn't say anything about penalising those who didn't use a certain method.. so I'm pretty sure I only dropped 1 there. I wasn't really sure of how to do it since I hadn't seen a question like that before and we sorta rushed that topic, but I guess it worked out okay.(Original post by Putch1)

Re: C2 May 2012 Edexcel - Post Exam Thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTThe trig question was good but I felt it was ruined by the fact that they essentially spoonfed the identity. Without that I think the paper would have had something to distinguish between the well-revised and the mathematically capable. I feel that this is the single most important reason the paper was an objectively bad paper - It wasn't bad because it had some easy questions but because it did not include a single question difficult enough to truly distinguish between the higher candidates. The only thing which has really stumped a lot of people is the geometric proof which is more a case of poor revision and/or preparation from teachers. The paper will likely have extremely high grade boundaries to compensate for this and show a skewed representation of the students taking it which will devalue it for everyone involved.(Original post by Bulbasaur)
Chill. I think most people got the 5 marker trig identities question wrong anyway. Then many would've forgotten the proof, etc. etc. -
Re: C2 May 2012 Edexcel - Post Exam Thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTI agree, simple revision of identities and geometric proof. Plus some practice on logs and anyone is capable of 100ums on this paper.(Original post by DJMayes)

Re: C2 May 2012 Edexcel - Post Exam Thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTEh, how was it spoonfed? That was the only question I had any trouble with, I found the second bit easier than the first(Original post by DJMayes)

And they always give you the answer- you just have to work towards it for the first bit or that's pretty unfair were you to make a mistake in the first, less important part. 65 isn't really 'extremely high'- there a lot of very weak candidates (20% fail each year regardless of the paper) and they tend to be weaker in June. I doubt it'll be much higher than that. Besides, from the sounds of it you didn't drop anything so why does it even matter? lol
Granted it was pretty easy, but not the easiest we've ever seen. It also compensates for C1 which was probably the hardest Edexcel had ever set. -
Re: C2 May 2012 Edexcel - Post Exam Thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POSTYeah i know, the only thing that tripped me up a bit was me forgetting to cancel a pi, on Q7 where the question said prove that the surface area= (something), which i was quite annoyed about as i did it when i was out of the exam hall(Original post by mzayn)
