Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTThey probabily have a backup paper after the Pete2004 incident(Original post by otrivine)
wow interesting hopefully they did not make the paper harder! but is it not hard to make another paper in less than 1 weeks time before exam woow lot of pressure on them i can imagine -
Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTwe were also the last year to have citizenship as compulsory(Original post by exam2k10)
Probabily the worst C3 paper to date!
Now its the C4 crisis. The fact that the paper has been leaked means something
. Why is it always the 1993-1994 generation that have to suffer
?
Here are the downs for this generation
- We were the last to do KS3 SATS externally
- We were the first to experience harder papers
- We were the first to experience tuition fees rocket to £9K
- AND NOW, WE ARE ONE OF THE FIRST TO SIT A REPLACEMENT PAPER FOR C4!
Why is it always us that have to suffer, if I only I was born 17 days earlier. Would have done 1st of uni by now -
Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTHow many marks lost for the following :(Original post by Arsey)
I thought this was a fairly standard paper but it did have lots of parts to questions that could cause a lot of problems
There hasn't been a summer session boundary of less than 60 since 2007 and I really can not see it happening this time either; my best guess at boundaries is:
75 = 100ums
69 = 90ums
63 = 80ums
56 = 70ums
49 = 60ums
42 = 50ums
35 = 40ums
I will do my best to answer questions about the paper but please try to read the thread first so that I am not answering the same questions lots of times.
Here are some links to previous D1 threads, they are worth a read and you will see what the common errors were...

C3 June 2011 - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1619039
The second link has loads of past papers, mark schemes, model solutions etc
Did equation of tangent instead of normal so got y=0 but ended up with y=3x. - how many out of 3?
for the differentiation of tan(2y) or whatever in terms of x, i stupidly differentiated tan as secytany but did all the other steps correctly, i.e flipped dx/dy then used 1+tan^2x = sec^2x but ended up with 3/2xroot(1+x^2) instead of your answer due to the initial wrong differentiation = how many /5?
thank you

Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTThey will bring forward the paper that is already written for January 2013 or later. It won't have been printed yet probably, but otherwise it will be pretty much ready.(Original post by otrivine)

Apparently the Maths admin staff at Edexcel were quite busy on Tuesday/Wednesday and didn't do the usual admin speech at the meetings that were happening then. -
The average for 60ums across all the June C3 papers is 48. It isn't going to be too far off 49.(Original post by Huntx)
okey..the prediction for a 60 ums (49/75) does not seem right to me..surely it was a hard paper for first time sitters. how many ums do you think a 45 could fetch me? need responses pleeaseee

Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POST
For the last question I wrongly made the answer to be 25-7=18
This is because I had wrongly calculated the constant from the previous question as -7 instead of +7
My question is, will I lose one mark from both questions? Or will I get an error carried forward from the first question meaning I wouldn't lose any in the second.
Please respond

I dont think you will loose any marks. Its unfair to loose marks for the same mistake. I think you'll loose one mark between the two questions. Maximum 2 because your answer to the last part was wrong, but your working was right!(Original post by JohnSimmons)

Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTIt might not be harder, one of my Business papers got leaked in Jan, and the paper turned out to be 10 times easier as it was all based on basics! It might happen with C4(Original post by exam2k10)
They probabily have a backup paper after the Pete2004 incident -

Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTI don't about fp1, you might look at this thread http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=2001429(Original post by yiannisk)
in fp1, i'll get around 70/75...do you think i will get a 90%?
In first post Arsey says they won't be different from last summer, so you should take a loot at last summer's grade boundaries for fp1 -
Re: C3 June 2012 - Post Exam Thread - Solutions and Paper in the FIRST POSTit's kind of annoying that i found the difficult parts of the paper and i did some very stupid mistakes on the easy parts of the paper=.=(Original post by Dixie)
