Ermmm why is everyone saying the paper was hard? Fair enough it was slightly different to previous papers, but it was not hard.

Just checked the model answers and i am sure i got exactly the same (100%) although for the force at the hinge i did but 40.1n directly upwards.

    Wooooop hoping for 100UMS

Yeah that resolve question I think worth five marks because you had to use 15 not 40 degrees. That I'm assuming was up the difficult part.

Yes, that was pretty much it. 40ms^-1 vertically upwards/0 degrees to the vertical/90 degrees to the horizontal. I put all three!
Ah ok that's cool, what's the 20ms^-1 in Arsey's mark scheme then?

Shameful as it may be, this paper actually made me cry. I was the only person taking it in my school, only person doing further maths, and i had a clash. I sat my D2 exam afterwards still crying. But now i feel silly! Haha
    That's cute ^^

I could have absolutely bossed this exam, but I made a massive arithmetic errorin 7 (b) (not to mention doing an unnecessarily long method which might not get credit) which carried forward to 7 (c) (although hopefully I'll only lose answer marks for part (c)).
This may sound horrible, but I'm actually glad that other people found it hard as it means my mistake won't be punished too harshly.

I'm thinking that was probably because the answer to the second part didn't require any working out to find, and having a 5/1 or 4/2 mark split would have given that away.
Are you sure, I swear it did require some calculation to work out horizontal component and then realise that Vx = 0? I mean you could have done it in your head i suppose.

I really hope part b was worth only 1 or 2 marks cos I only worked it out as they took the papers in.

I did all the papers from Jan 07 to present so I'm guessing the tricky questions were in the earlier papers?

You had to work out the horizontal and vertical components for part (i), and since the horizontal component was 0, there was no further calculation needed.

I believe they mark the first think written down, though I am not sure whether method marks are treated differently to the answer marks and marked from the complete written work...

    for question2(b), i got e>1/6

but then i quoted therefore, 1/6<e<0 - shouldn't have done so

how many marks do you think i will lose?

I don't think you will lose any tbh. The examiner will see you have got the correct answer and just ignore the bit after.

I think the thing that really showed in this paper, is the requirement of the candidates to think on their feet to take unusual questions and to think of simple ways to solve the question:

e.g. the Impulse question could be split into i and j vectors, making it pretty straightforward

    - The 5b question, simply needed candidates to understand the relationship of the trig ratio to calculate a length

7c, also could be done using a similar technique using trig ratios.

It is definitely essential to draw diagrams for your working, (even if they look terrible, like mine do) as once you create a large scale image of the problem, the relationships became much more obvious.

you may lose 1 mark, due to the question asking for the Range of possible values, and e is limited to between 0 --> 1 ,However If you got to the stage where you have 1/6 <e, you have clearly got most of the question correct, and shouldn't suffer to badly for a small error.

okay phew but i cant afford to lose any more marks i totally screwed up the impulse question due to time limit! argh!
