For personal reasons, I want to change my name by deed poll. I'm a white British guy. At the moment I'm thinking Taylor Flyte, any other suggestions?

I mean my real life name, not my TSR name.

You're WHOLE name? I can't imagine changing my first name, could you just change it a little and pick a different sir name? Flyte is cool but it sounds more like a stage name that a real name to me

I really don't like my name, It's horrible like Dave Smith or whatever; it's quite normal sounding really. One of the reasons I don't like it is my first name ends with and S and my surname starts with an S it it sounds weird when it's said. I also want a fresh name for a fresh start when I start uni, because I don't want to remember anything from school, including my name.

Did you get Flyte from Brideshead Revisited? It's a good surname, but I'm not so sure about Taylor. Perhaps you should have one 'exciting' name and one more ordinary name, otherwise (as someone has pointed out) it doesn't sound real.

Obvs you don't want to tell us your whole name, but you can tell us your first name? There might be a similar interesting one you could pick.

Also, what are your family going to say about this?

My first name is Chris. I don't plan on telling my family; once I go to uni this September I'll only see them in the holidays, and they can just use my old name.

How long have you been thinking about this? It's a pretty big thing to change your name and I'm sure your family will find out. Each year they'll need to fill our forms for student finance?

If you're going ahead with it- Chris Flyte sounds good and you don't get the confusion of feeling that you've changed your whole identity.

I quite like the name Taylor. Also agree with the fact you should have one normal name and one slightly more creative, otherwise it sounds fake.
You could try google searching baby names and seeing what takes your fancy.

EDIT: Your family will find out at some point. It's not something you can hide for too long.
