Some understanding of Transport is required which your Colleague lacks.
By your logic then, anyone who is not an expert in their field shouldn't be in any kind of role. We wouldn't get very far would we?

I support the specifics of this petition, though mainly because I favour High Speed North over HS2. It'd be a more effective alternative, I reckon.

I am not saying that. People should learn on the job.

Your colleague fails to demonstrate knowledge, he has been making comment which are lame etc.

I am not having a go, I am pointing this out. Other people have also noticed your colleague's incompetence.

If the Transport Secretary gets his way and the Network is completely privatised it would be a disaster.

One point regarding this is what happens when TOCs fail like NXEC. Under the current system the State steps in as a last resort and runs the Franchise like East Coast.

He is not the greatest Transport Secretary which he claims to be, he has done nothing.

Other people have lost confidence in your colleague

I'm assuming that his comments are tongue in cheek. Other people may not have confidence in him, but I do.

At least I did something, research and planned XYZ which never was implemented due to the withdrawal from the Coalition. I have taken what I have started and it is being worked upon by the Party.

Compared to the former Transport Secretary who did nothing.

Really, this and Liveries motion are the only Transport matters this term so far.

He announced his intentions which I disagree with.

No but the majority of the time should be dedicated to Transport. Which he did not do, he was concentrating on other things like the rename the country Bill.

Just so you know, he's resigned as Transport Secretary, he's now a back bench MP.

In defense of Internetguru he has actually put many ideas forward to the government and is certainly a very creative MP. Unfortunately, he felt that his views on rail were not compatible with the governments stance and as such i will be covering the role for now.

Whilst the design is better (though i would want a connection to Wales as well) i think that with the timescale involved for completion we should be going as fast as HS2 though the cost incurred would probably mean that High speed north (with a Welsh extention) would be a better option and something to be considered.

As a matter of interest, why are you becomming the transport secretary yourself when you are already prime minister? It just seems that it might have been better to give the job to a Conservative MP who dosen't really have a proper role at the moment (maybe even given it to Jacob W; its certainly more important than culture sec.)

Also, what is the government's actual stance on transport (as opposed to the previous transport sec's views)?
