You cannot say one is better really, but LSE is higher in The Times rankings. I looked at the rankings and LSE is 3rd, Nottingham is 15th! So LSE is better, apparently. However, if you look at how the tables were compiled, LSE is better because of research and graduate destinations and to be honest graduate destinations is flawed. Both Nottingham and LSE attract the same calibre of student, choose the course and city you prefer.

Interesting question. I think four historians are going there from my year (Nottingham). Three of which are highly intelligent i.e. 8A*+ A's at As. However if i were in your shoes, LSE would attract me if i were looking for employment prospects over social. Although a degree from Nottingham is also top notch!

Don't you mean LSE is 3rd, I believe Nottingham is 14th. However, these rankings are usually a load of waffle as, if you looked on the Guardian's, they (ranks) are completely inconsistent with one another.

Yo, it's all down to your preferences, prestige really is not everything. You will be studying the course for 3 years, surely, location/course/quality of teaching far outweighs league tables and X vs Y. I believe LSE's course to be rather specialist for an undergrad, ie it is not as "wide" as Nottingham's options perhaps.

Yikes, and have you visited open days? All being said, these so called ranks could change anyway and whilst you're at LSE, Nottingham might become 3rd. :p: It's all subjective as I have repeated so many times in this xvsy rubbish.

yup Nottingham all the way.

Just a question to all those who know about the ranking... are we talking about nottingham ranking as a uni, or nottingham history department specifically? I have no idea as i never really bothered with the whole ranking thing.

Basically if your stuck between these two, go and visit them both and see which one you get the best vibe from, yes the course is important but so is the instution, what does it matter if LSE course is fantastic if you hate the accomodation etc?

Any questions about the Notts course then just ask.
