I'm doing OMAM, but not Sunlight on the Grass - so I can only help with Of Mice and Men. This is advice for the AQA exam.

My teacher suggested obviously starting with an Introduction including the context of the book/play (date it was set, author, social & historical context).

Then writing paragraphs, between 4 - 6 about different aspects related to the question. Remember PEE (Point, Evidence, and a longggg explanation)

You can then conclude with your thoughts in relation to the question. Good luck

do we talk about the context of the book on part (a) or part (b) which is about society?

and i hope slim doesnt come up! some people are saying it could be curleys wife..

I think Part B as Part A is mainly focusing on analysing the passage.

Don't quote me on it though, I can't exactly remember. I've got my French head on tonight ready for my exam tomorrow!

i sat this exam this time last year and if i remember right... section A was a passage on your first novel (mine was Jekyll and Hyde) with 4 shorter (6 -10 mark) questions with the 4th question referring to one other part of the novel.
then section b was an essay on the second novel as a whole. (mine was to kill a mockingbird).

    hope this helps! x

I'm doing of mice and men and kindertransport as well. according to my english teacher, she thinks that the questions might be about curleys wife / women in society or maybe crooks

My teacher said she thinks its going to be on Curleys wife too.
Part A your meant to focus on the passage they give you about a character, then for part B you can use all the book and you talk about the context of the story relating to the character you are given...if that makes sense? Like for example part A could be on Curleys wife and then part B could be on women in society and how Curleys wife is used to show that.

I'd guess for the OMAM question, they'd use the characters which had'nt been used previously.
Anyone got actual exam questions on OMAM from past years ?

So, they'll most likely as us about curleys wife or slim - Dreading him :P
And tbh, i'd also reckon that they'll either ask something old, something new - seeing as i hadnt seen it on past papers and also on seeing the 100% bladibladibla morning :P

Have a look here - there's only two papers available to us students on there: http://web.aqa.org.uk/qual/newgcses/...?id=01&prev=01

Go to Key Materials > Past question papers and mark schemes

You know if the question was on slim, what would you write about for part b? What does slim show about society?

Somehow I don't think it will be about Slim because you really can't say much about him in relation to context.. if it is about Slim I think it will be a very obvious and guided question
