    OCR B Advancing Physics in Action 17.5.12
    Hey guys,


    soooooooooo nervous for the exam this thurs... but grade boundaries are particularly low... i think anyway.

    Post any questions on here and we can all help to answer them1!!

    Okay so has anoyone looked at the January 2010 paper, question 11 from a(ii) is monstrous, anyone want to help me work through it??

    I'm literally just about to start my revision for it lol. I've already got a C but i'm aiming for a B. I'm just gonna do 2-3 past papers and then just cram.

    How is everyone revising because I've noticed how awkward some of the questions and mark schemes can be, anyone got any good tips?

    I made mind maps on all the chapters and now I'm just doing loads of past papers I did most of the legacy ones as prep during easter as I covered a chapter! What are you going to cram there really isn't much theory is there?? The only thing I've noticed is that the mark scheme is so inconsistent and the exam is based so much ona application that you can't really learn the mark scheme! The revision guide is amazing has taught me everything so far! More worried about the one next week friday if I'm honest though!

    You really think the revision guide is good?! Do you read all the background info? What sort of marks have you been avaergaing in the past papers? (Sorry about all the questions!!)

    Yeah the revision guide is so much better than the textbook not that you shouldn't read it but I read as we were learning it but I wouldn't focus too much time on it as it often gives you uneccessary background information, the only place where it's better than the revision guide is where it talks about dislocations as that isn't in the revision guide! about 40-50 usually, the good thing is the grade boundaries are low it's like 38/60 for an A, sometimes as low as 34/60. How have you been doing in the pasr papers?

    Well in my mock i got 42 but an A was 45... i think some of the grade boundaries were low because it was the start of the sepcification. The grade boudaries for this exam will be higher... im guessing .. approx 48.

    I really neeeeed an A! I don't reallly know what to do now.. i ve done all the past papers and going through them..

    Great, made my day! I guess all we can do is hope now, I'm still doing papers at the moment and after I do one looking at there I went wrong

    Just read the resistance value directly off the vertical axis for the value of 2 on the horizontal axis.
    It must be between 1 and 10 and each horizontal line is a step of 1.
    In other words, it just goes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 between 1 and 10

    I still do not understand,,, since there aren;t 10 lines between 1 and 10... there are only 9?

    Count them again. There are 10 lines starting from line 1 to line 10.
