Best value for money graphics card.
My dad recently brought a new all in one desktop PC. When he told me the price, I was convinced it could run top level games without question, but much to my surprise, it has an awful graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 7450A). Can anyone recommend me a graphics card that can run games like Batman: Arkham City, Skyrim etc... on it's highest settings? I'm only looking to spend £100-200 max.
Here are the desktops specifications if that helps: http://h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/homedes...0ea_ds_ene.pdf -
Re: Best value for money graphics card.
Wait, am I correct in assuming that all the innards of the computer are packed in a tight, enclosed space behind the screen? I don't think there will be any room to put a decent graphics card in, not to mention the likelihood of having to upgrade the powersupply as well.
If not then I have the Gefore GTX 560ti which was about £170 6 months ago, its a pretty good card. On the most challenging games you'll have to choose between 1080p with the highest settings and maintaining a constant 60fps though. -
Re: Best value for money graphics card.
You won't get a decent card into that monstrosity; even if you could cram it in, you'd never keep it cool. I assume it must run a laptop card... which you could replace... but not with anything spectacular, and not cheaply. That's if it even opens at all... looks like it might be sealed TBH.

I'm considering getting a new PC soon, and the Radeon 7850 is what was added to the PC Gamer rig in the latest issue, but the hardware editor for the magazine mentioned that graphics card prices should drop relatively soon as the new line of GeForce cards start rolling out. There are other things that might be worth waiting for as well - hard drive prices are finally trickling down in price again as companies are starting to overcome the shortage of HDDs resulting from flooding in Thailand last year. Prices still aren't cheap but it's a sign of improvement (I got a 2TB drive for about £55-60 last summer, and prices for 2TB drives now are floating around the £90 mark at their cheapest, which is better than £120+ from six months ago but still high compared to 12 months ago)(Original post by DarkTitan)
7850 all the way from novatech u can grab the msi one fore 190...overclock it to 1150-1200 and you haveyourself a grx 580/7950 preformance card -
Re: Best value for money graphics card.SSD's r falling like anything. they're nearly at 50p a gig. the 7850 i'd say wait for the gtx 660 to come out if you can wait that long, if not then grab the msi frozr 7850 when it hits like 180 atleast if you want to wait a bit more (currently at 190 from novatech)(Original post by Dalimyr)

HDD's are now something like £80 for 2tb but i'd focus more on an ssd for the "demands" of the current day and age. the crucial m4 128gb was £88 last time i checked and the sandisk 120gb was what £68 i think.
If i were you i'd buy an ssd and use any old hdd for storage and when the price is right again grabbing a 2tb for 50-60 wouldnt be a bad idea
I wish my dad had asked me before buying
