    German Book Recommendations
I haven't really done much literature during my studies in German and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions of books that would be considered 'essential' German reading? Anything from classics to things that are popular today. Thanks!

Just something for the shelf, probably not actually read, would be the book from Gerhard Schröder (German chancellor 1998-2005): ENTSCHEIDUNGEN - Mein Leben in der Politik

It's 25€. The customers' reviews are not overwhelming, but it's said to give some private and politics insides, no true secrets though.
