Re: Meridian Court 2012
I've just finished my first year at NTU and I lived at Meridian. It's really not as bad as some people make out.
Firstly, nobody ever played chess - apart from when we turned it into a drinking game. That video is the most bull**** video you'll ever see. Most blocks are flats of 10, which is ridiculously better than any other number as there's always someone around. Trust me, you'll never be on your own in a flat of 10.
In your room you get a desk and a chair, and we had to pay £40 for internet but I think they were talking about making it free this year. The walls are minging, painted breezeblocks, and the showers aren't great, but it's the cheapest accom so you can't complain.
It's about a 5 minute walk to the bus stop and a 10 minute trip into town which is a pain in the arse when it's raining, but the bus pass you get is soooo handy. A return ticket on the bus would normally be £3.70, so for those of you who are going to Clifton (for sport/study), it will save you £3.70 everytime you go. That bus pass probably saved me £100 on trips to Clifton alone.
Fresher's week is incredible so make the most of it - they ran double decker party buses into town from Meridian last year which were quality!
Seriously, you'll get used to Meridian and if you're as lucky as I was you'll meet flatmates which you'll always be friends with.
P.S for the guy in D15 - I was in D1 last year, and the girl who was in D15, let's just say she might have left some diseases on the bed haha!
