What if I fail the year?
I've always gone through education without much issue, but for once in my life the need for a plan B seems quite apparent. I've struggled this year and could well see myself failing some core modules.
Thing is, I have no idea what I would do if that happened. I don't enjoy the course (MORSE- basically Maths), so it's not something I'd really want to try again. On the other hand, I don't have any passions, so there's not any particular career path to follow or degree to take. I've always played to my academic strengths in order to set myself up with the best chances in life, by getting the best grades and a highly respected degree (with which I could use to find employment in something that I discover I enjoy doing). So in terms of doing anything other than what I have been, I have no idea what I would do. I have too much to not get a degree (2A*s, an A and a B at A-Level) and the only thing which somewhat interests me as a degree might be to do with Graphic Design/ video editing, which my Dad is very against as he feels I'd be limiting myself massively in terms of what I do as a career. And I kinda tend to agree with him. I don't feel like I'm interested in it enough to take it as a career, whilst something like a maths degree would let me do a bunch of things in the city, things I don't even know exactly right now.
So yeah. Bunch of thoughts/ information. Confusion; anxiety. Any advice you guys might have? Maybe some kind of gap-year to bring some perspective? -
Re: What if I fail the year?well, each person knows whether they've tried their ultimate best or not, and if you have and you do fail, you know you could always try again(Original post by morrison11)

and if you didnt and you did fail, well you can try again anyway :P
and why dont you write down a list of everything you're good at and academically able at and then separate them into two lists: one of the things you actually enjoy, and the other for things you would never consider to do as a career.
then for the list of stuff you enjoy, mind map all the career choices you know of that are linked to each one and see what takes your fancy. and then work on it from there
good luck

Re: What if I fail the year?
Morrison I'm just throwing this out there maybe you have considered it or not even thought about it yet but..... with those kinds of A-Levels you can join the armed forces as an officer. I'd recommend the Navy or RAF though because nobody likes getting shot at. In the RAF or Navy you'll start on 28k a year and you'll travel the world, do sports, go on adventurous activities and you'll make some incredible friends.
Promotion is good too. You'll be making a crap ton of money in the Navy because you don't pay any bills at all, food and rent is free and they also cover your travel expenses for when you want to go home for weekends and stuff.
The RAF do not provide free rent although it's heavily subsidised but you'll still get covered for travelling home and you'll get free food.
Look into some of the roles maybe one or two will spark your interest. I left the Navy to get a degree but now that's going pair shaped real fast so looks like I'll be returning to the Navy or may opt for RAF I have not yet decided. -
Re: What if I fail the year?Well that's certainly an interesting proposition I hadn't thought of. :P(Original post by SepticArt)
