Re: GCSE AQA Law Unit 01 Paper Exam- Friday 18 May 2012
I'm also doing this tomorrow, currently dying trying to learn. I know nothing!!!!!! Just doing all the past papers I can find, reading the mark scheme and also reading my text book. out of interest, did you do law through school?? I'm doing it through an on-line correspondence college, so I haven't had any teachers. I have no idea what might come up!!!! Best of luck to you!!!!

Re: GCSE AQA Law Unit 01 Paper Exam- Friday 18 May 2012I have done this exam last year and have Unit 2 on the 25th. I think you should really focus on jury selection, baristers/solicitors, law making process, obiter dicta, stare decisis, ratio decidendi. and the courts. BTW for this exam I had fot an A* and so i feel that to get the higher marks use the correct law words and try and give a lot of detail. Lastly good luck(Original post by poistar)
Anyone want to share revision tips or what they think might come up? How is everyone feeling about it? -
Re: GCSE AQA Law Unit 01 Paper Exam- Friday 18 May 2012
Does anyone know how it is set out -- for example are the question multiple choice? Or just questions? Do you have to write any short essays at all? Are we allowed to bring in any materials? Law dictionary? Study notes? Im also doing this online & have no idea what to expect - I studied through ICS Learn & they just told me to call AQA when I had questions...

I also studied through ics. My advice-look at the past papers. Here's the link:

It's honestly so so helpful because it shows you how the paper is set out, how you should balance your time and exactly what to expect. I've been revising everything I can!!!!! Good luck to all of you!!! I look forward to discussing the paper with all of you tomorrow! -
Re: GCSE AQA Law Unit 01 Paper Exam- Friday 18 May 2012
I also found Section A quite easy well not easy but I could answer all the questions not sure how I will get marked though as I wasnt very good at explaining my answers unfortunately !!
Section B - I chose 9 & thought it was hard & just ended up writing answers that Im sure arent even correct !!
Im hoping Law in Action Exam next Friday is alot easier for me, what do you guys think we should revise the most for next weeks exam ???

Re: GCSE AQA Law Unit 01 Paper Exam- Friday 18 May 2012I chose the same as you, question 9 and run out of time at the end about the advantages and disadvantages of civil cases and criminal cases question, that i could not answer. I can't remember what the qustion was now. Did anyone get the solicitor/barrister training correct i totally forgot and I had only looked at it before the exam started.(Original post by studybunny86)

Re: GCSE AQA Law Unit 01 Paper Exam- Friday 18 May 2012
Oh! comment on the disadvantages and advantages of a civil action and a criminal prosecution being brought to court at the same time? I put advantages for the claimant and disadvantages for defendant. I found that it was a good paper overall. I did question 9. When i saw q10 I was like OMG Duty solicitors im not doing that. Q9 was much easier. I remembered the differences between public and private cases in that gird in a past paper. What did people write for the jury question?
a) Jury must be on the ............ Electoral Register?
b) They must be between ............. 18-70?
c) their names are given by ............. WHO?
d) the 15 individuals who attend court are chosen by ............. lottery?
e)before they enter the jury box they are ................ vetted or sworn in?
Thanks!!!!
Hoping for an A
