There is nothing I can find on the OCR website about a change of specification to any of the language Classics subjects about essay questions and my teacher has said there has been no change..

If people are using specimen papers as a guide to the exact structure of the exams then don't because unless there is a notice to centres document about a specification change then nothing has and look at the most recent past paper to see structure

There has been a change. There will only be 1 essay question on the literature papers. Trust me, please stop arguing; even check the website -_-

I agree with you here, it was the same for Greek prose too. The Greek exams are pretty much exactly the same as the Latin exams.

Yes, that's right! My teacher says so too. It was SO much easier with just the one too because I did my prose mock with 2 and it was really pushed for time whereas the verse was fine.

Have you noticed that they've significantly cut down the amount of space available for the 10 marker though? My school have contacted OCR to ask if this affects the amount of points we need to make but they haven't had a reply yet.

It's not a specification change, it's just a change to the style of question (which isn't part of the specification). Our centre told us about it in advance, it's in the updated specimen papers (which are the ones meant to represent what we're doing, not past papers which can change - by the way, a black line down the side of an SP indicates a significant change, which is seen with the 10 marker) and they changed it in the Greek - so it *should* just have one 10 marker.

Right... Hmm well it really shouldnt make much of a difference. Wondering why my school weren't told but I never found myself pushed for time in the literature ones and surely only giving two bullet points means you have to write less about less?

I think its just 90% UMS for A*, i don't think it could ever possibly be 90% raw marks because Classics and English departments like to tell people its 90% to get them to work their asses off but it's probably about 85% raw marks (or it was last year )

Latin's like IGCSE, only private schools do it! So unfortunately we have to suffer higher grade boundaries.

Irrelevant Side Point: My school has an article from Boris Johnson about the importance of classics on the front of the Latin notice board.
