Re: C3 Edexcel Chemistry GCSE on 21 MayNot neccessarily, in the CGP chemistry 360 book it states that anything above 0.3 is an anomaly. Hense, 10.0 isn't an anomaly. This would mean that the mean was in fact 9.7 to 1 decimal(accurate answer is infact 9 and 2/3).(Original post by Nick0110)
No Sir, you are in fact wrong. When doing titrations - chemists like to be very very thorough. The numbers given were 9.8 , 9,7, 10.0 and 10.4. To be thorough enough you must wain until you have two numbers which are within .1 of each other and use them (the whole point of repeating titrations). So the answer was to take 9.7 and 9.8 and average them: 9.75. Sorry for bursting anyone's bubble- this was in a couple of past papers but is also common knowledge. -

Sorry for the late reply. Natalie- I haven't seen this is the CGP book and since its over I won't go to a past paper and have a look, however, in the past papers there have been similar questions where the average has been taken from 0.1 and everything being counted as an anomaly.
Thank you Ollie for the correct numbers.
