Accommodation and Making Friends
Hey all!
I'll be coming to Hertfordshire in September all the way from Australia so I'll be completely clueless as to how things work and will join many of you on your first adventures out of home! Woo exciting
Regarding accommodation I've nominated de Havilland and Telford Court as my first and second preferences but does it really matter where we stay as far as socialising goes?
There's a Hertfordshire student who's on exchange in Australia who says that de Hav is for first years and isn't as exciting at the College Lane campus, but does it really matter where we stay?
I guess I'm just worried I won't make many friends to begin with >_< but hopefully many of us will be in the same boat and won't know anyone else either so there's hope yet!
I'm oh so very excited!

Re: Accommodation and Making FriendsAll accommodation is for first years, second or third year's students are only allowed on campus again for medical reasons or other special reasons.(Original post by Raws21)

In my opinion, it really doesn't matter where you stay, in any situation you can meet great people and there is always a chance that you won't like/won't get along with your other flatmates for what ever reason. So there is no one particular flat where you are guaranteed to meet 'great flatmates' you know what I mean?
It's not like that at college lane you automatically make more friends.
There are loads of societies to join as well, this is a great way to meet new people with similar interests or who are in the same boat
If you have any more questions, just let us know! ^^ -
Re: Accommodation and Making FriendsSocieties! Genius! And I did not know that! Those poor second and third years!(Original post by Pop_tart)

Re: Accommodation and Making FriendsThe area's more gooner territory (with the odd Spurs fan, a few Barnet fans and the usual crop of sad glory seeking Man U fans with no connection to Manchester). If you are Australian and your accent is strong, be prepared for the Ashes being kept by England next year.(Original post by Kvitty)
Because of the close proximity to London, I assume there's a spurs society, I'll be all up in that -
Re: Accommodation and Making FriendsI'm english, I was just jumping in the thread. When I came down for the open day and stopped with some distant relatives they were all gooners unfortunately. All friendly banter though(Original post by barnetlad)
