Hey everyone! good luck with your exams!

For my last paragraph (asking questions) I have a problem with one of my questions. It is meant to be 'do I have to work everyday?' and originally I had put

est-ce je faut travailler tous les jours? (right according to most online translators)

BUT my french teacher changed it to

est-ce qui'l faut travailler tous les jours? (not right according to most online translators)

WHAT ONE IS RIGHT? I know how we can settle this ... FIGHHHH- kidding!

In which direction are you meant to be writing it? Are you meant to be writing it as 'do I' or 'does he/she'? It doesn't really make sense to ask yourself if you work. The only difference between the two is your translation is asking if I have to work and your teacher's asks if "he" has to work, though it should be 'qu'il'.

It's meant to be writing personally as in 'do I have to work everyday?' because the task is applying for a job in France and I have already asked what the salary is & this is my second question. Oh yeah, typo!

the first one is correct, the second one cannot be said

go look at the conjugation for falloir ( the verb that you're using) it can't be used in the first person (je)

if that helps it stick in your mind better ( dois is pronounced dwa)

ah but you see fair maiden....

this il is a different kind of il!!! it means 'it' in this sense, so it doesnt matter whether you're male or female! its a great success!

so use which ever one you choose, il faut is a bit fancier and a bit better since it shows you know how to use the il faut which can be tricky for some...

What your french teacher said is correct! "Est-ce qu'il faut travailler tous les jours?"
You should trust your teacher, not the online translators, most of the time they make mistakes! I know that "il" is in third person, and it sounds kind of weird to say it that way, but that's how the expression goes, you just have to learn it that way

You could say "est-ce qu'il me faut travailler tous les jours?" but that's using pronouns and I don't think you learn them at int 2

I'd go for "Est-ce qu'il faut travailler tous les jours?" or "Est-ce que je dois travailler tous les jours?".

Personally I think that the first one is more sophisticated, as it shows your awareness of impersonal verbs. And for future reference, never ever ever trust online translators!

Falloir cannot be used with 'je', so instead it would be 'il faut' to mean 'one has to'

'Est-ce qu'il faut travailler tous les jours' is the correct one here, translating as 'is it that one has to work every day?'

Basically - "does one/you/I have to work every day?"

The first one is definitely wrooong... do not trust on-line translators as they're not very good when it comes to sentences.

The second one is correct (est-ce qui'l faut travailler tous les jours?)

Basically the 'il' is not referring to you, so it doesn't matter whether the person saying it is female or male... it's always "es-ce qui'l faut travailler tous les jours?

If you want to use that one you would have to say:

est-ce que je dois travailler tous les jours?

(Don't forget the "que"... you can't say just "est-ce"... it has to be "est-ce que"... they always go together, otherwise est-ce on its own wouldn't have a meaning)

THANK YOU ALL! I don't know how to thank you all!! ^^ I was just wondering if there was another word I could use instead of 'dans' ? I use it quite a lot in one particular sentence that is : je vis avec mes parents dans un port de peche dans le sud-ouest de L'Ecosse ... first of all is that sentence correct? and secondly I seem to say dans alot!
