Re: 2012 Higher Physics DiscussionI've found it alright actually! I've done Higher Chemistry, so Unit 3 was alright concerning nuclear reaction things and decay, etc, and I loved learning about light (which was helped majorly with research I did for my advanced bio project... I'm sure you're not actually interested in that though(Original post by sanaad)
I did Standard Grade and I've fairly struggled with the course, haha! How have you found it so far? I'm hoping for an A!

).
And Unit 1 I feel you just need to be familiar with the equations and the why's of things... but Unit 2 I'm way out of my depth :L Don't like electronics at all! Still, I hope for an A too.

Re: 2012 Higher Physics Discussionit's quite similar to SG (well I think anyways) aha, we still use some of the same calculations acutally, and you really can depend on your calculations to get you through! I know next to no theory, just how to do all the calculations and I'm predicted a high A overall(Original post by TheFOMaster)
I don't do Higher Physics but can I ask how much is it like Standard Grade was?
Also how much can you rely on your Calculations to get a good grade >.>

Ah, I don't do Chemistry, so I struggled a bit with the chemistry side of things in Unit 3 to start with, but I'm okay with it now(Original post by DragonHeartstring)

Aww, haha unit 2 is one of my favourites considering I want to electrical engineering or something like that!
Hopefully we get our A's! Do you do higher maths?

Re: 2012 Higher Physics DiscussionI can't wait! I'm not quite as confident as I am for maths, but I know I could sit it right now and get an A. The physics paper will be far more fun than the maths paper though! I don't think I've had a B all year right enough. I can't wait for adv higher!(Original post by Granter2306)
is anyone else as excited as me for this Exam - Physics is Easy, learn the Calculations and your 70% there already! -
Re: 2012 Higher Physics DiscussionAh! That's alright then. See, before this year, the only knowledge I had of electrical stuff was from S1 and 2. Safe to say I had forgotten it all.(Original post by sanaad)

I did Higher Maths last year

Re: 2012 Higher Physics DiscussionYour exactly like me! I don't think I've sat an exam and achieved less than 75%(Original post by ..lauren)

I cant wait either although people say it's a really big step up from higher! should be manageable though

Re: 2012 Higher Physics Discussionit's so annoying! also, we have no exam level question for the new parts of the course and just one specimen paper(Original post by Habitué)
Argh, doing the bloody Revised course so we have basically no materials to study. Not to mention I have History a few days before and Latin in the morning before Physics.
our teacher told us to just learn things off scholar but it goes into so much detail so I don't know what we actually have to learn
hoping for low grade boundaries and nice marking because it's a new course

Re: 2012 Higher Physics Discussion
Feeling not bad about Physics, the only thing I need to get my head around is doing the internal reflection question with the prism and all the angles, I always make a mistake somewhere, I guess if I just learn the order of operations I can't go wrong with it. But I was totally failing physics before, like 2 months ago, sat down and studied and I'm now going for an A so if I get any less than that I will be annoyed! But I think it's going to be good, the thing I like about eh physics paper is that its set out topic by topic so you're in each topic's frame of mind when you go onto each question.

Oh haha, that makes sense then. Oh, i've got maths tomorrow! What did you get in it?(Original post by DragonHeartstring)

Re: 2012 Higher Physics DiscussionI got a C, despite getting mostly A's all year - I hadn't ever gotten a C in Maths(Original post by sanaad)

And to top it all, I didn't get my appeal... however, there was a general sense that last year's paper was quite hard, and I was concentrating more on other subjects..
Anyway! Good Luck to you for tomorrow! I was glad to see the back of maths. I never liked it much, but I do like physics
-
Aww, I think I'll get a C (if that) too after having just done the paper. Was so horrible, so doubt I've done well!(Original post by DragonHeartstring)

But thanks
yeah, sqa seem to be stingy with appeals, especially for maths :/

Aah, I completely agree. Such a terrible exam! And I'm much better at maths than I am physics! Lawl, this should be fun.........(Original post by mintaddiction)
After the horror that was Higher Maths...
Better start doing insane amounts of physics. NO WAY do I want to come out of higher exam again feeling like I've been strangled

So am I. I usually get As in my maths but fail my physics!! How does that work? :/(Original post by sanaad)
