If any mc IS remembered as a "great" some day, it's likely to be one who was technically/musically skilled and critically acclaimed in the rap community, as well as commercially succesful, accessible and popular with the masses.
Eminem fits that description better than most tbh -

Actually, I'm not. Again, would you consider poetry to be music? If not, then rap is not music, as they are the same thing, the same with the speech in iambic pentametre.
Rap today is often combined with music, but it exists and has existed for a long time without music. So, I reiterate my statement: he's not a "music great", but he is a "rap great".
Or are we saying that Aretha Franklin wasn't a music great cos she only sang?

No but you'll learn a little thing about brain surgery. I'm not saying I'm a historian of rap, I ain't got time to take a bull**** PHD studies on that subject. I'm just saying my general level is acceptable and wikipedia provides a general overview of the history of rap just like wikipedia provides the general overview of the history of Britain. -

I'd say in his early career Eminem's music was pretty far from bland. But whatever I'm not gonna argue over our opinions. -

Re: Will Eminem be remembered as a Music great?Meh, I'm not really into his funny stuff (there are exceptions, like The Real Slim Shady) because most of it is just about "bangin' hoes" and "doin' dope", which reminds me of most of the crap that's in the charts today. He'll be remembered for stuff like Puke, Just Lose It, Girls, Ass Like That, Fack, Drips, The Kids, Role Models, Hey Lady, Purple Hills, and other very funny, well written songs, in my opinion. His serious stuff is fantastic too.

Everyone goes on about the beatles and queen and what not, that's because the music they were producing at the time was for that generation, And they have loved it and carried its legacy through to the current day, i assume the same thing will happen for him, I don't like rap that much but i'll always remember him and know who he is.. -

Many people who claim he's the best rapper ever usually haven't heard many hip hop artists, so yes he probably will be remembered as a music great just because he's so popular.

It's one of my favourite songs by him. It stands out for me because he raps about such an emotional issue (his bad childhood) and I get goosebumps because of the power he puts into it. Not all rap is about being "gangsta" (this is usually just the crap in the charts today). I think this is the main reason it's looked down upon, because some rap does promote violence.
