For reasons for liberal reforms, how do you criticise them? What were the problems etc?(Original post by Armaros)
I love reasons for Liberal reforms, I caress with pleasure the assessment of Liberal reforms, but I find the Labour essay quite repugnant. I really hope that one of the former two appear, along with, for Russia, why the Reds won the Civil War, or the reasons for the 1905 revolution. If issues 4 & 6 appear I will achieve optimum peace of mind.

Re: Higher HistoryProblems with the reasons for the reforms? We weren't taught to criticise them. Our argument is whether the internal or external pressures were more significant. You could argue that the fear of Labour pressure was selfish(Original post by Scrabble96)

Re: Higher HistoryI'm with you for reasons for 1905 revolution, not civil war. As long as reasons for 1905 come up I'm okay, would possibly manage a power of Tsar between 1905-14 essay, that's about it. Russia can SMD.(Original post by Armaros)

Oh, sorry. Could you explain what the internal and external pressures were? We never covered this...oh dear!(Original post by Armaros)

It's not how I was taught to deal with that essay, so it might just be different wording.
My paragraphs are -
- Proof the old system was failing
- a quest for national security and national efficiency
- the investigations by Booth and Rowntree (one by Mayhew too, I did it for my extended essay, but most people just focus on the former two)
- political change (liberal split and rise of labour)

Re: Higher HistoryYee, that's the same content as mine; we just group together 1,3,4 as internal and 2 as external in terms of their positioning in the essay(Original post by Shengis14)

it would be an answer to prayer for me if the pillars of autocracy essay comes up, even though its come up the last like 4 years... or reasons for bolshevik success would be awesome. Gonna try and get a solid plan for feb/march though. I'm screwed basically. -
I wouldn't mind pillars of autocracy! I can't do either of the 1917 revolutions or the civil war! Surely they wouldn't put those three together? :-/(Original post by ingridd)

Re: Higher History
Doing Britain 1858-1951 and Appeasement and the Road to War. Learning Why Liberals, what democracy and Women as the first 2 are bound to come up and learning why appeasement, fascist foreign policy and how successful appeasement. Scared for the latter as the two I'm learning cam up last year but my teacher is confident how successful will show up.

Yeah sure(Original post by OddThings)
Do you have any for Nazi State and the early growth of nationalism essays? Much appreciated.

Issue 1 (why did nationalism spread):
(definition of nationalism) : 'nationalism is the devotion to the interests or cultures of ones nation'
Johann Fitche said 'those who speak the same language are joined together by a multitude of invisible bonds'
Metternich said 'keep the dark, evil forces of revolution away from us' about the students who spread ideas
? said 'the Carlsbad decrees certainly succeeded in keeping Germany quiet'
The zollervein was described as 'the mighty lever of German unification'
'even in 1815 there were tens of thousands of people..who felt..that Germans deserved a homeland'
Issue 2 (how much had it spread) I use some of the above and
Metternich said 'austria is on the point of seeing herself...excluded from the rest of Germany'
? Said 'for most people, life went on as usual'
Issue 6 (nazi state)
David welch said 'much of hitlers popularity..rested on..foreign policy'
? Said 'if nothing else, dictatorships make good police'
? Said 'anti-semitism was not only the core, but also the focal point for the feelings of aggression'
Hope these help, if you don't understand what context youd use any in just say
oh and btw when I write '..' I've cut a piece out so I'm not using the full quote

Would these gain me more analysis marks then combined with my own analysis?

Re: Higher History
I'm doing appeasement and the road to war for unit2, which I quite like and it's pretty straight forward. However, for unit 1 we were only taught the essays for Liberals and Labour, and no one even mentioned that we might not get a question and so will need democracy! aaaa freaking out.
Also, we were left to self teach paper2. What an incompetent department.
Oh well, I'm still hoping for an A. It'll be fine if it goes as well as the prelim.
