Question To/About Openly Gay Individuals
Hey guys;
Well, as a homosexual individual, I am somewhat openly gay among my friends. Parents however, not so much, but still, parents can wait a little while longer.
Question posed to heterosexual person(s):
Do you know (not know of) people who are openly gay? Also, what are your views on openly gay individuals?
Question posed to a homosexual person(s):
Are you openly gay and if not, why not? - Great thing about the internet is anonymity.
As someone who always waits before coming out to people who I know, I usually wait about 5-6 months to get people to know me and if they don't want to be friends with me knowing what I am instead of who I am, then fair enough.
Also, I am NOT fruity. I like all the stuff guys typically like such as football, cars, bowling etc... (not saying men HAVE to like these things)
Also, this is NOT a situation where I am encouraging coming out to anyone but, if anyone needs any advice to coming out, I can sorta give advice, although, parents are unknown territory for me.
(May submit a poll later on depending on how this thread goes). -

Re: Question To/About Openly Gay IndividualsHave a best mate who is openly gay, no one gives a **** including his family, we all knew anyway. Cant stand homophobics, luckily my mate never comes across them. TSR is packed with them, maybe homophobes just dont have the balls in real life(Original post by Scienceisgood)

Re: Question To/About Openly Gay Individualsthese days? people have always been gay its just that now they are allowed to be themselves and dont have to hide their sexuality.(Original post by AdvanceAndVanquish)
It would be pretty strange if someone didn't, these days.

Re: Question To/About Openly Gay Individuals
Actually just thinking about it I don't know many people who are openly homosexual at university. There was one guy on my block last year and that was it.
Being 'out' is perfectly fine by me, provided that said person doesn't keep mentioning it at every opportunity, that can get irritating (much in the same way as anyone else talking about themselves constantly). -

To be fair, if anyone started bashing me for being what I am instead of who I am, they would be lucky to have any teeth left. =l

Had to be posted. -

Try walking around inner-london as a openly gay couple and test this theory out.
My bad, seemed like the perfect time to use the phrase. -

Re: Question To/About Openly Gay IndividualsSo... given that the question was about knowing openly gay people, talking about 'these days' was entirely appropriate.(Original post by badcheesecrispy)

Anyway, I agree on the point that for most people in modern day Britain not knowing any openly gay people is likely to be the result of either a direct choice not to associate with gay people or a less direct choice about socialising within circles where homophobia is tolerated. I'm not for one minute suggesting that anyone without openly gay acquaintances is necessarily homophobic, but in those sections of society where homophobia isn't prevalent you'd expect people who don't know anyone openly gay to be a lot less common than people who do. -

Re: Question To/About Openly Gay IndividualsMost of british society isnt homophobic hence very soon it will be legal for them to marry, I take it you mean sections of society from a religious minority for example?(Original post by Chumbaniya)

Dont see how anyone can choose not to associate with a gay, you cant tell someone is gay just by looking at them, lmao. -
Re: Question To/About Openly Gay IndividualsWho do you know that constantly goes on about their sexuality? Is this a trait prevalent in straight individuals you've met also?(Original post by Manitude)
