Following the C2 exam, I thought S1 was practically a gift. But looking back, I've made some silly mistakes - I didn't convert the confidence interval range. I realised it was in ml, because the numbers were strange, but didn't convert for some reason. The probability one was a bit tricky. Overall though, I think this paper wasn't too bad.

You know for binomial distribution question did they ask you to find mean and standard deviation or mean and variance and can you remember what you got for that and the comment question that followed

I did all the right thing for the toilet/house question except I didn't change my dominator by -1 each time, I did it all over 194 -.-

I did multiplay by 6 at the end though, so how many marks will be lost, 2? :/

Probably 2 yes. 1 for not decreasing the denominator and 1 for the wrong final answer.

Did you definitely have to decrease the denominator? Another two stupid marks to lose ffs lol.

Yes you definitely had to. You selected 3 at random, you wouldn't include the same house more than once. :P

What does everyone think the boundaries will be like?

    60 for an A
    55 for a B

    or something along that line?

I think 60/59 for an A and around 54/53 for a B. This is due to silly mistakes..etc!

    I hope it's below 55.
I only know of 10 marks i lost but you never know about silly mistakes. In stats, it's hard to remember what you wrote as well, so i'm just hoping come August that i got 71, otherwise, byebye uni.

I found this exam really easy apart from the bedroom question but i guess others found that tough too. Also, i think the ml>l may have tripped others up.
Otherwise, everything was so easy which my why i'm worried about grade boundaries.

Jan10 has the highest boundaries so far, at 55 for a B and 62 for an A.
I did that paper and i personally thing the is about the same toughness. It's got 6 marks worth of sort of hard questions while our paper had 4 (bedroom Q). So they boundaries may even be like 56 and 62/3 !

Aha, I swear I've seen you in the Core 4 thread?!
But yeah, I hope they are lowish, my grade depends on this (and C4)!

After doing some analysis, in June the grade boundaries are lower than the ones in Jan (excluding Jan12 -where 56 gave you 80UMS). Having not heard about people's reaction regarding this exam though, makes me think that they may have found it easy; thus possibly pushing the grade boundaries close to where 62 was an A and 55 a B (the highest it has ever been [which was in Jan10]). However, that's probably cos people retake it in January.

Although after looking at June's grade boundaries, I think a B would be around 52-54 personally and an A around 59-61, which isn't too bad!

That high? I don't think so! In January, normally furthers take it then or second years retake it!

My grades also depend on this and C4. But i've decided not to include C4 as i know i got less or equal to my old score (54 )

Yes, you're right about the resit thing, let's hope some people found it hard

I went into core4 confident, but it completely ****ed me over due to stupid amounts of silly mistakes(like 15-20 marks) so my hopes are all upon my S1 abilities.

    How did your S1 go?
I know i lost 10 marks, but i completely have no idea if i made any other mistakes and you never know with some worded Q's.

Even with the highest boundaries (jan10), i can afford to get away with 56, so hopefully, i didn't lose 9 extra marks

When I left the exam, I thought C4 had gone okay but after reading the answers on TSR, it didn't :L

I worked out that I got around 52marks so I'm hoping grade boundaries are low enough to give me at least a B. It's annoying cos I went in thinking I could get an A*! I nailed my mocks and everything

If you dropped around 20ish marks, that would give you higher than 54 I think! Don't despair! Remember June11 grade boundaries!

I think my S1 performance was average (I had fp1 just before and concentrated mainly on that, but I didn't know I would have messed up C4)

I'm hoping for at least a B in that so I could get my A overall. Will have to destroy S2 next week though!

I didn't revise at all for c4. I thought that i did well enough in s1, but still, it went so badly . June 2011 was stupidly hard, i don't think people found it that hard this year. My assumption is it will be around the Jan12 boundaries.

Do you know if you got anything wrong in S1?
I think i lost 10 marks and even if i made a few silly mistakes, i'm still optimistic about getting 71.

Did you do C4 in June11 for the first time? I don't know, we did it as a mock and I got 69 I thought it was pretty easy. The January 2012 paper was mental though, got a C first time doing it (as a mock again). I think for C4, the grade boundaries will be very low as furthers don't take it then either :L

I think realistically, the grade boundaries will be between Jan12 and June11 so maybe 54 for an A, 47 for a B? What do you think?

I think I made a few silly mistakes -namely not converting the litres thing (despite thinking about it, doing it then crossing it out ) and the probability question was weird I thought.

Overall, I think the grade boundaries will be similar or lower to June 11 for Stats; 59 for an A, 52 for a B!

I think you will be fine!
I just have to nail S2 next week otherwise, good bye life! lol

I think in an exam situation, everyone usually feels their exam was tough.
I still think it was tough though. That vector question, the implicit differentiation and the cartesian eq were all quite tough. The final 8 mark was easy though even though i cocked it up .
I have a feeling boundaries will be at Jan12ish levels.

    45/46- C
    51/52 - B
    58/59 - A

I think that paper was harder for the stupid candidates compared to the clever ones so maybe the C/B boundaries will be a mark or so lower.

I found stats insanely easy apart from the bedroom Q. So i'm worried we will get jan10 boundaries:
    55- B
    6? - A

Hmm maybe! Remember you had already done it before, so you may have found it slightly easier than everyone else :P

Yeah perhaps actually. I think the A/A* candidates would have done alright on it. The questions weren't extreme extreme though, it's just silly mistakes!! ahhh! So annoying!

I found it okay, average! Remember though, we had already done it before! Others may not have found it that easy!

    but here's to hoping!
