Re: SONY VAIO - E17 Series
ALSO - go to the Sony Style Education site (sorry if you've already mentioned this), but I found a version of the E17 originally for £759 for £705 in the education store. That's pretty significant, I think.
And I'm waiting until late late August to get this thing. Better value comes with the wait. -
Re: SONY VAIO - E17 SeriesPeople who care about windows 8...(Original post by Snagprophet)
Who cares about Windows 8?
I don't like it much atm, but least here there's an offer for an upgrade.
The OS upgrade can be applied to any win 7 PC. -
Re: SONY VAIO - E17 Series
For one, Windows 8, is optimized for touch screen compatibility.. Therefore rendering ANY current laptop pretty much pointless for it + windows 8 will be coming out with its own range of tablets in October running Windows 8 RT / Pro (both of which are aimed for portability) & It's released mid October 2012,
Sony have one of the best build quality for laptops running windows OS, although macbooks have better build, they come at a high price tag..
Sony Vaio E17 is good, my brothers buying one currently for £700 with all specs, I bought a Vaio F in January 2012 for £750 and so far its great! (:.
Would advise anyone to get one

Re: SONY VAIO - E17 Series
So far so good with this new laptop. Got it in Seamfoam white and I'm loving it. For the price this VAIO is a good deal the 1.7 GHZ is far from being "super" snappy but it does the job, close the lid for a while come back and open it and it resumes quickly, or use the integrated WEB button to power up your computer faster and access the web in about a minute. I guess this does the job for students who want a simple laptop for word processing, surf the web, and use Skype or any other VOIP service. Far form being the best, but not a bad option for the average user.
