Re: Shoulder PressIf you stand though, you always find a way to sort of jump at little though.(Original post by Arturo Bandini)
If you're gonna do it without support you might as well just do them standing.
Do both.
If I sit myself down I literally cannot do that.... -
Re: Shoulder PressJust work on form and keep your knees locked... Or switch to push press, which I prefer anyways.(Original post by Classical Liberal)

What is the push press? -
Re: Shoulder PressHow about you just don't lift your heels off the ground? Not hard.(Original post by Classical Liberal)
Even with locked knees, you can lift your heels a little to give you some help.
What is the push press?
I like both seated DB press and standing barbell press. Lots of big strong guys do seated barbell too. More than one way to skin a cat. -

What is the push press?
You should be driving through your heels. Even when you push press your feet should stay flat on the floor- the drive come through the quads, posterior chain and hips.

Re: Shoulder Press
If you're on your toes and hyperextending your back (which I assume is the cause of the pain), lower the weight, keep your abs tight, DONT lean back, push up and back, not forward, get your head through your arms, and maybe do some ab assistance work to strengthen em if your abs are the weak link.
