Are part time jobs easy to get while studying at this university?
I want to know, since I don't know if I am able to get a job from now and until the university course starts (June to September). I'd have no experience in having any job apart from the library work experience I had about 3-4 years ago and helping people in open evenings.
I have nothing in the way of retail or customer service experience and I want to know what part time jobs are available when i'm doing my university course so I can get some money for food as I will have no money to spend otherwise apart from the DSA i'm likely to receive and even then that's not alot of money to go on.
I don't do well with dealing with customers, I haven't encountered it before but I know what it will be like and it wouldn't be my ideal part time job.
Any IT part time jobs available? since i'd have my BTEC in IT with top grades. -

I agree, nothing is easy. Portsmouth's a student city, so it might be slightly more difficult to get a job here. There are usually quite a few going - but it is a lot of work to try continuously throughout the year! If you're looking into IT then it might be a little bit more difficult to get a position than a regular job, but when i've been in the library i have seen signs that they were looking for IT people, so you might end up with a job there (which i can imagine is better pay and conditions than private companies).
I reckon if you spend around 4-5 hours looking a week, and book appointments with purple door (our careers service) you won't have too much difficulty getting a job. But make sure you've got some alternative figured out just in case you struggle - we're in a recession at the moment and due to austerity a lot of people are unemployed.
