Effective ICT Teamwork:
Many ICT projects are large and cannot be completted by one person in a reasonable time, so instead they are completed by a project team.
Each member of the team is allocated a proportion of the overall task. In many ways, working as a team member is harder than working individually since you have to work closely with someone you do not get on with. Another problem causing friction between team members is the unequal division of work.
Main reasons of working in a Team:
- Many ICT tasks or projects are too big to complete by one person
- A team brings together people with expertise in different areas
- Members of the team are able to "bounce" ideas off each other and this can produce a better solution to ICT problems
- Effective teams can produce work which is far superior to that which could be produced by individual members of the team. -

Re: Aqa info 3 - 12/06/2012
Large scale items can either be created in-house, created by external consultant or created by a customisation of a generic or off the shelf package.
In house, where large organisations have many specialists and skilled ICT staff whose job it is to maintain the existing software and to develop new software. The advantage: any confidential information is kept in-house. Disadvantage: specialists may need to be recruited for short term.
External consultants, can be an expensive option. An external software house will design, construct, test and implement the software. Advantage: it is useful where the in-house organisation doesn't have sufficient staff with developed ICT skills. -

Tools for system development:
Business process modelling tools
• BPMN Diagrams (flow chart)
is a graphical representation of workflow in a business and business process. Helps management by representing complex processes. Such as Gantt charts. Process for my project is informing members that the match is cancelled due to the weather and enrolling new members.
• Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM)
• PRINCE2 is a structured methodology aimed at the successful management of a project using procedures to manage budget, time, risk and quality. Project management model.
Data modelling tools
• Entity-relationship diagrams are used in designing relational databases showing relationship between the data in different tables. Project management methodology.
• Data flow diagrams show the movement of data through the whole organisation. Used in system analysis to show how data moves through a system. -

Re: Aqa info 3 - 12/06/2012I really dont understand procurement policies. I hope that wont come up.(Original post by thairshan)
Last question may even by on procurement policy like hardware software resource etc this case seems to revolve heavily around internal and external resources
Anyone got a summary for procurement policies? -
Re: Aqa info 3 - 12/06/2012Procurement policy: Designed to control the purchasing of ICT equipment. A list of approved suppliers is given, equipment should be environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Central purchasing allows buying equipment in bulk and restricting the number of different models makes support easier, less is kept in stock. Laptops are convenient for those who move around a lot, but are expensive to buy and maintain and pose increased security risks. Consumables are expensive, procurement policy restricts, e.g.: printer models available.(Original post by cerenctn)

Anyone got a summary for procurement policies?
Will contain the following requirements:
-For small amounts of expenditure, show you have achieved value for money
-For expensive items, staff must get quotes from various sources
-Hardware purchased must be above a certain specification
-Software purchased must be capable of running on the existing operating system -

Re: Aqa info 3 - 12/06/2012
I actually want a question of the System Life Cycle as you could answer so much on it, you could include a load of testing methods and you could also speak about the development methodologies, there's just so much to write about with a question like that. I think i'd also be happy with an Endurance vs Hope question thanks to this thread. Good luck everyone!
