    nostalgia - When I was a child...
I was just reading something on somebody's blog that when they were a child, they thought that when you went to sleep you stopped breathing, and so when he parents used to come in the room to see if she was asleep she would hold her breath and then get caught out because she couldn't hold it anymore.

Anyway, i thought it would make for an interesting thread (kind of like the "yuck yum" thread), and see what things people remembered thinking from their childhoods...
    I'll go first

I remember thinking that when you went to sleep you would be someone else on the other side of the world [Australia]

Watch this already be a thread, it'd be just my luck

When I was a child I always thought that when you grew up, you had to make a conscious effort to breathe...didn't understand that it was a natural body function!

I also used to think that on Christmas Eve if everyone in your house wasn't asleep by midnight then Santa wouldn't come! :p:

I used to think there were tiny singers and musicians inside speakers. I used to moan at my parents when they would pause songs because I thought it was rude to them.

A lot of mine are local and specific to where I live, but there's the one I'm sure a lot of people had that if you dig a hole for long enough you'll eventually get to China.

And then my friend used to insist that the reason the night between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day took so long was because there was another whole month between the 24th and 25th called 'Jucember'. :s

Embarrassing.. I used to think human shadows were dead people.

I too used to hold my breath to pretend I was asleep

When I was a child I used to dream I was in a bubble and floating from one cloud to another and sometimes coming down to look at the beautiful countryside. It was the most peaceful feeling.

I remember being in nursery and thinking 'wow, those kids are massive!' (about the year 6's in the school playground next door)

I used to be afraid of calendars

In the summer, the fan would be on, so the pages would flutter about, leading me to think that there was a ghost...

So whenever my parents didn't want me to touch / go near something, they'd put a calendar page on / near it :sadnod:

    Fooled me like a charm
