Yeah, but you have to remember that developers have been saying that since Fable 1, and every time they say it the game turns out to be extremely linear and an "all roads lead to Rome" result.
COD developers have never said that, so we'll see. They've also said something about a game mode with maps where you're given an objective and you can complete that objective however you want, a bit like an RPG.

    A non-linear campaign
New mode where you can do what you want to complete an objective
    Zombies
and the fun and laid back Multi-player with all COD games

Means I'm already sold on Black Ops 2.

I don't want to sound like a 'fan boy' I don't really play that many video games and I don't really understand the cash-cow hate directed at cod. All video games are trying to make money and I enjoy COD games, don't ask why, they're just a fun way to spend a rainy evening indoors, I enjoy BF3 just as much as COD :P

While the new features in BOPs 2 sounds reasonably cool it's nothing that many other games haven't done before and probably done better. Not to mention it'll be all for naught as far as I'm concerned if its another 4 hour campaign with Michael Bay standard writing.

Bring back the days of COD2 please, before it became the grindy, unoptimized, DLC cash cow that still running on the same engine as original Modern Warfare that was released in 07.

MW2 multiplayer was awesome! the best of all the CoD games in my opinion.
Although, the MW3 campaign was awesome. I really liked it, I liked that it used real locations.

I've only ever bought MW3 and 3, although i've played Black Ops and CoD4. You're right in that they're very similar, the gameplay has barely changed for years. I decided to get MW3 though as I didn't get Black Ops, and I was getting a little bored of just playing MW2! I didn't start playing the game until MW2, and as i've only actually owned 2 CoD games, the fact that the game hasn't changed much hasn't started bothering me yet

Probably not. I don't really have the time for it anymore and I enjoy BF3 more (although I still think BFBC2 is better)
Ditto. I love BFBC2 so much.

I haven't bought a COD game since MW2. Certainly won't be getting Black Ops 2.

Because many gamers nowadays are impulse buyers. They do no research and do not have the experience to draw comparisons to other products.

I only but Black Ops. Mainly cos of the multiplayer gameplay. I also had the world war two ones and those were pretty good. I haven't tried BF3 or any battlefield ones, I might do but I don't really go on my XBOX during term time so it'll have to be when I have time.
That said, who wants an Xbox live add?

The franchise has gone down ever since COD4 which was the best in my opinion. I've played MW2 but lost interest after that but I've lost the interest in playing games in general too

The problem is that activision has milked the series for all it's worth. People are becoming tired of the linear single player and the slight changes they add to MP. Look at what happened to guitar hero because of activision. They need to slow the series down or let it die.

I bought Battlefield 3 instead of MW3 last year. However, two days ago I had a go on MW2 for a few hours and enjoyed it. I was just watching a video on youtube about camping and as soon as it came up I was like 'oh, why are they showing a MW2 video? About 7 minutes in I saw a piece of equipment and suddenly realised it was MW3. It is seriously no different to MW2.

Now, I think the COD line in general is really good. They are great games and that can't be disputed. I always have a great time when I play them. However, BF doesn't come out each year like COD, but when it does, there are always massive improvements in gameplay and graphics. I don't understand why people bought the COD game again when such a great game as BF3 came out. If you give BF3 a chance, give it a few days, it is a much better game than MW3 - NOTE: NOT THAN THE COD LINE IN GENERAL - in that respect it is down to your preference - BUT IN COMPARISON TO MW3, BF3 is definitely a better game. People may obviously dispute this on the lines they don't like BF gameplay and yeah, that's fine, I understand that. But there was nothing new, fancy or different about MW3 - MW3 fooled me into thinking it was MW2.
    I didn't. I spent all my money in Jester's

Haha I'd substitute that for BF3 anyday!

COD4 was amazing. I can still remember the maps and tactics even though I haven't played it since 2008. When I bought MW2 I couldn't beleive they altered the camera angle on cage matches, completely destroying one of the best online modes. My favourite maps were crash/crossfire/backlot.
