i think i used the other word for 'checked' but i can't remember

You're permitted to change the structure of a sentence in that way from passive to active if it creates a more readable and flowing translation. Instead of having "the pain was unable to be Xed by Y" I switched it to "Y was unable to X the pain".

Im so annoyed, walked out then realised that the last sentence was actually 'I asked a certain senator what the hope was of milo living, and he replied that he will be killed within the next three days' or something like that that actually made sense.
Frustrating when I had 45minutes in which I read through and rewrote my answers neatly -_-
I thought the section a was a really nice translation and section b was okay considering I'm not a fan of Cicero

Ok, what about the bit in Section B when there was a senator who was looking for Milo and he became hopeful?!? What the hell was that? I think I put something like, 'The senator who was searching for Milo became excited by hope that he was alive' . But I have a very negative feeling about that. What was the 'qua'?

Princeps means 'chieftain' or 'emperor', but if you look at it contextually, it has to be 'emperor' as it is Tiberius being talked about. 'chieftan' is usually reserved for barbarian leaders, not emperor

I got "when a certain senator asked him what hope he was being excited by whilst Milo was alive" or something like that.
