"David Moyes would be the best man for the Liverpool job"
And wait for it...
"but why would he want to leave Everton?"
Yes, like that is the ****ing question to propose

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
Spoke too soon..
Ajax manager Frank de Boer has ruled himself out of the running to become Liverpool manager after being linked with the job. The 42-year-old Dutchman has guided Ajax to back-to-back Eredivisie titles after taking over as coach in 2010. De Boer told De Telegraaf: "I am honoured by the request but I am only just getting started with Ajax. I want to bring good things. That's why I will stay loyal to Ajax in the coming years."
That's another manager ruling themselves out. Won't be a long list to interview.. -

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIIDoesn't stay anywhere long, he either resigns or gets fired. If he started to do well at Liverpool, he'd jump ship to a Spanish club quicker than you can blink.(Original post by pbsjohnz)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIIhttp://www1.skysports.com/football/n...-Chelsea-talksFernando Torres has cast serious doubt over whether his long-term future lies at Chelsea after calling for clear-the-air talks with the club's hierarchy over what his role will be next season.
In a surprisingly candid interview with Guillem Balague a disgruntled Torres has wasted little time in expressing his disappointment at missing out on a starting place in the Chelsea side that claimed the UEFA Champions League on Saturday evening in Munich, going on to claim for much of his time in West London he has felt 'lost' and may even have 'given up' were it not for the support he has received from those close to him.
The greatest day in Chelsea's history saw them defy the odds once more in the Champions League in beating hosts Bayern Munich on penalties to claim what had become a Holy Grail for Blues owner Roman Abramovich.
Torres felt his improved form over the past month would earn him a starting spot but Roberto Di Matteo elected to go with Didier Drogba as a lone striker, who vindicated his manager's faith by scoring Chelsea's leveller before netting the winning penalty in the shoot-out after the two sides could not be separated at 1-1 after extra-time.
The Chelsea squad are currently enjoying a victory parade throughout the capital but for Torres any delight over claiming Europe's premier trophy has been tempered somewhat by the fact he played only a minimal role off the substitutes' bench.
"There's been many times when I've felt lost, I wasn't sure what to do. I felt like I didn't know where I belonged. "
Fernando Torres Quotes of the week
Torres concedes he feels let down by how things have transpired at Chelsea since joining the European champions in January 2011 for a record £50million fee and it is a situation he is determined to rectify as soon as possible.
"It's contradictory because I feel like I'm at a peak moment in my career, with more desire and hunger than I've felt in a long time but I've had to spend the final on the bench. It was a huge disappointment when I saw the line-up, perhaps the biggest in my life," Torres told Sky Sports' Balague on his website www.guillembalague.com.
"I thought I would play in this game and I couldn't imagine not doing so. But in the end I could participate and offer the team something. I'm really happy.
"This season I have felt things that I never had before. I've felt like they treated me in a way that I didn't expect. Not in the way that was spoken of when they signed me. We've had a lot of talks and we'll talk about my future.
Torres left unhappy
"I want them to tell me what is going to happen in the future. Football has been fair on us, on me.
"Now I do feel like football is worth it but I've been through a difficult time. The worst in my career. I don't want that again. There's been many times when I've felt lost, I wasn't sure what to do. I felt like I didn't know where I belonged.
"I'm eternally grateful to my family who have been by my side and also for the support of the owners who have stuck by me.
I feel kind of sorry for him in a way. Maybe we could look into the possibility of bringing him back? -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
Why buy Torres when you can buy just as good/arguably better for less?
If you believe he can be like he was in 09 again fair enough bringing him back is understandable.
However I don't think he will be that good at least not at Chelsea and bringing him back here is a risk since you can't confidently say he will improve. Probably better to move and and get a different striker (Luuk De Jong
)
If we resign Benitez I can actually see him possibly wanting to come back considering he is unhappy at Chelsea.Last edited by So Instinct; 21-05-2012 at 11:54. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
I like Torres and I hate Torres at the same time.
I'd take him back though, as long as the price is right.
I can see this happening too.(Original post by So Instinct)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
Seems to me as though FSG have put Benitez bottom of the list. To put someone like Martinez above him is just
imo but I hope no one takes the job so we're left with no one else but him.
AVB said he is waiting for the right project to come by, so he doesn't seem dead cert for it now, while Martinez would rip your arm off regardless of what you gave him. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
I'd imagine that Torres will have received a bumper increase in his salary to move to Chesea, to an amount we can no longer afford to pay him.
He signed a 5 and a half year contract - only been 18 months so he's still got 4 years left.
Only way RA will sell is if he doesn't care about Torres anymore since he has won the CL now, Torres demands a move and no other club with CL football makes an offer for him.
Even then, I'd imagine FSG will refuse to buy him, they seem pretty ruthless and I can't imagine them wanting a player back at the club who was so disrepectful and threw his toys out of the pram in the first place. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
How about we offer to take Torres of their hands, for the cost of also providing us with Sturridge. That way there's one less problem for them to sort out with Torres

Ha, if only. I dont know how I feel about him. One the one hand, Judas. On the other... come back home Torres. But only if we can make a good £30m profit on your 18 month sabbatical

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku criticises former manager Andre Villas-Boas , insisting he will "never forgive" his sacked boss. Lukaku, 19, tells Sport Wereld: "There is one person that I will never forgive for what he did to me - the previous coach. Right from the beginning, it was weird. I could not stand how he was treating me. In training, he put me on the right or left wing. I really learned nothing! I have told the club that too."
Another glowing opinion on AVB..
He did well at Porto and his players liked him AFAIK? But that's easy when he seemed to favour Portugese players and your team are winning. -
Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIIII don't think i have come across a worse pundit in my entire life than Robbie Savage. He doesn't have a clue about football. 'Ask Savage'? Yeah right(Original post by Mess.)

Re: The Liverpool FC Thread VIII
Just watching the Henry interview posted in the thread earlier.
He's obviously a very intelligent and well spoken man.
Interesting that he talks about talking to Gerrard and Carragher and also wanting to bring through youth players and admiring the Barcelona and Arsenal models (around 7 mins)
Around 8 mins talks about knowing in their due diligence that we were buying players who weren't really top4 quality. Dig at old owners or Rafa/Roy? Also that the wage bill is too high for the quality we have.
Not really anything new though. -

I read an interview were Rafa said Hicks & Gillet replaced all the staff with their own men and he didn't like it or them.
Also I posted it for the people suddenly doubting our owners. People like yourself probably already know better =P
So hows work? or the lack of it
