Real Madrid are the first team to collect 100 points in one season
That just shows that the rest of the league is crap.

In the EPL, the top teams still lose to lower teams because the whole league is good

It's a knock out cup competition, the best team doesn't always win. End of discussion.
No, but the fact that for the last 8 or 9 years Chelsea have consistently done better than Real makes them better doesn't it? That can't all be luck..

This discussion seems to come up all the time on here. I'm just going to quote what I posted in the last thread.

I'd say they are all a lot more equal than they've been in recent years. Personally, I find the Bundesliga and the Premier League the best/most entertaining. You can only admire the way that the Bundesliga is run, it's a fantastic league that far more people should be watching.

epl plays so much more exciting football, different leagues have different styles so you cant compare! nevertheless even koscielny when he first came from ligue1 in france found it hard to adapt and first

It mainly has to do with the influx of foreign money, from arabian sheiks to russian oligarchs.
If not for them, the EPL would be on the same level as Germany or France.
France on the same level as Germany? Look at the UEFA coefficient below in the link, Germany has 20 points over France.

And without the money the PL would be nothing. England has next to no home grown players. Yesterday Cech and Drogba won it (if you are of the opinion that Chelsea won it) or Gomez and Robben lost it (if you are of the opinion that Bayern lost it).

At the thread, what does "best" mean?

    Successfulness or attractiveness?

    Top, median, or average?

Because as someone said, the Spanish league is more attractive, and the two best teams are without a doubt Barca and Real atm. In terms of success, since 2000-2001 season (picked because first season since millenium):

    CL
    Spain - 4 wins
    England, Italy - 3 wins
    Germany, Portugal - 1 win

    Uefa Cup/EL
    Spain - 5 wins
    Portugal, Russia - 2 wins
Ukrain, England, Netherlands - 1 win

So in Europe's top 2 competitions: Spain 9:4 England.

England may have more "top" teams, but Spain has the better median team, which shows up in them winning the Europa League.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_co...urrent_ranking

Now look at the UEFA coefficient. OP is a real ****tard. His logic was "English team won CL hence best league". Spain achieved the highest score in the last 5 years. England received its 2nd lowest of the last 5 years.

Could say the same for the multitude amount of english players going from premier league to La liga and Serie A note the sarcasm. Spanish players have come and slotted straight into football here.

When Aberdeen won in '83, did that suddenly make the SPL the best league in the world? Unfortunately, no, it didn't. Can you imagine what it would be like to have people like Scott Brown and Marius Zaliukas in the Champions League? ****ing hilarious.

I think England does do football a lot better than Scotland, its why its the most followed league in the world. Some may prefer La Liga, or Seria A but most watch the Premier League. Look at the excitement of Man City winning the title with almost the last kick of the season after forty something years, the drama of the final relegated team decided at the same time, the great football Swansea and Norwich have brought from the Championship, and Chelsea beating the best teams in Europe to clinch the Champions League with the last kick of the season. In contrast Rangers have gone bust and Scottish Premiership stadiums out side of Glasgow appear half empty whenever I watch any of the matches.
England does football better than Scotland is the reason it's the most followed?

There's probably 10 leagues that do football better than Scotland so by your logic all of them should be the most followed.

I've never watched la liga, but the boredom of watching barca and real madrid win again and again and again and again, must just be unreal. At least in the EPL you get some good gritty drama. One minute liverpool almost win the league, then they have their worst. Man city win with a kick in the dying seconds. Chelsea score the most goals in a season ever. Spurs and Newcastle suddenly have a massive revival. It's unpredictable, but stable enough to make you sit on the edge of your seat. Spurs can beat Man U in one game then lose 4-1 to blackpool the next. The teams have an actual chance of beating each other, and that is how you get jawdropping upsets. I cant imagine you get this in la liga. And i agree that brundsliga is probs better than la liga.

Scottish football is brilliant, though, it's the only league where men are still pint-swilling, "wife-beating" fat men with moustaches (albeit weak ones) who score goals and punch each other in the face.

You're just picking a random year to start from. If i choose 2004-05 to start from then it CL winners goes: England-3 Spain-3 Italy-2
    CL finalists- England-8 Spain-3 Italy-3 Germany-2

Look at that- in the past 8 years, there has been as many English finalists as the other big three put together.

Also, England have the highest coefficient of the last 5 years..

Anyway, coefficient isn't the ultimate decider, just like Fifa world rankings aren't; USA were 4th in 2006..

You have little intellect, else you would figure out the difference between FIFA and UEFA coefficient.

I will stop arguing, you are just trolling here.

Yes obviously there is a difference, but I'm saying that the official rankings of a group of teams don't always tell the whole story.

You must have little intellect, or you'd realise that not everything is meant completely literally.

Or maybe the quality at the higher end of the league hasn't been great in the EPL? How that Blackburn team could beat united is beyond me.

if the rest of the league is so crap, how is it that spains "10th best" team beat the english champions and leader (at that time)?

It's hard to say. I think the Spanish league has more good sides than any other league, but they appear to be dwarfed due to the constant success of the two giants.
Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, Liverpool (maybe they will be better next year? They've suffered a fall from grace but still capable of beating top teams)

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and the rest are average. Atletic Bilbao are still vastly overrated, despite their Europa League wins against Man Utd. Newcastle are better than Malaga. Valencia find themselves in no man's land every season (40 points behind Real Madrid) and only occasionally find themselves 2nd in their Champions League group. Sevilla have gone massively downhill compared to their team 5 years ago, so have Villarreal.

Quite a simple decision really, Premier League is superior. La Liga is 2nd.

    Wrong and Wrong.

The Spanish league has so many good teams; better than the premiership.

Look at Bilbao, they smashed Manchester United in the Europa.

Valencia, Bilbao, Malaga, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, and Levante... they're all great sides.

Manchester United and Manchester City only finished 2 points off Barcelona... the reason Madrid got to 100 is because they're one of the greatest squads to ever play football.

Don't try and play it down, the La Liga is brilliant, Madrid just make it look simple.
