Try telling an English team that they're not allowed to have a negative budget, ever. It would be a shambles. -

They haven't had THAT many injuries. Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Mascherano, Pique, Alves, Adriano, Messi have been ever present. The only position where they've struggled with is the wings. Pep rotated the defence because he thought a 3-4-3 formation was a good idea, clearly he was wrong. He didn't change formation due to injuries, it was because he knew teams were starting to work out their 4-3-3. Alves, Mascherano and Pique all played regularly without injury. Even Puyol played 44 games this season. The only long injuries in midfield were to Thiago or Fabregas who are hardly in the strongest 11 anyway. Don't lie with this injuries bull, Barcelona deserved exactly what they got this season. Pep chose not to play the tried and proven Pedro, played the slow Fabregas on the wing, had too much faith in the overrated Tello and Cuenca. The facts are that Barcelona's attacking department is quite thin and they paid the price for that.
Barca missed chances because Cech had a world class performance. Hitting the bar or post means nothing, Liverpool have hit the bar 30+ times this season.
Anyway in the Real Madrid vs Bayern game, Bayern was the better side over the 2 games.
If you're saying the Chelsea game is an exception, then is this seasons La Liga an exception too? Barcelona got humiliated by Chelsea and Real on their home turf, then Pep couldn't take anymore so he quit. He knew he couldn't keep Barcelona at this level so he quit while they were still considered the best.
Were you the one who said Bilbao didn't humiliate Manu?
Chelsea humiliated no one. They can't play football. That's fact. If Barca/Bayern were more clinical we would not be discussing this. -

Of course Chelsea humiliated Barcelona. 6th place Chelsea. Vastly insuperior underdogs. Against the best team in the world over 2 legs. Also the CL final in Bayern's own backyard. Both Barcelona and Bayern were poor, Chelsea made both teams play so clinically poor. If's, but's, could've, should've, would've - NO!
Chelsea beating Barcelona and Bayern is far superior to Bilbao fluking against Man Utd. If they repeated that fixture, Man Utd would come out on top. You can't say Chelsea's wins were luck because they have proved it time and time again this season in the Champions League. They overturned a 3-1 loss against Napoli because they deserved to, they nervously beat Benfica but deserved to, they humiliated and knocked out Barcelona because they deserved to. And they just were more hungry and more determined in the final than Bayern.Last edited by The Doggfather; 20-05-2012 at 20:27. -
Re: Premier League best in the world? Are you actually being serious? Iniesta and Xavi have both missed time only lately being fit last couple of months. Even then Xavi got injured again. Pique playing that goes to show how much you dont know hes hardly featured this season Puyol and Mascherano have been the two center backs you idiot. I forgot Adriano started for Barcelona right ? Tool no Abidal either.(Original post by The Doggfather)

Have you seen the amount of injuries weve had this season quit being a dumb ****. Cech being so wonderful he telepathically made Sanchez Xavi and Fabregas miss and hit wide and high. You realize how stupid you sound right?
You just making crap up about long injuries to Fabregas and Thiago aha? The fact you said Guardiola quit because they were humiliated is pathetic. The only humiliation was Chelsea winning the Champions league the way they did you ****. You wanted Pedro to play when he was injured eh? Bet you wanted Villa to play with a broken leg as well...Last edited by Malevolent; 20-05-2012 at 20:58. -

Re: Premier League best in the world?
They are both 2 team league's at the moment la liga and EPL (barca + real) (man u + city) so to be honest there is no real surprise who wins the league. Quality wise they are about equal aswell. But i think there is no unpredictability in the title races which is why league's like serie a and ligue 1 are more interesting for me personally. But watching real madrid destroy teams is also good fun :P

Re: Premier League best in the world?
To be honest it depends what you base it on. If you want the top teams I think Barca and Madrid r the best two teams in the world but if you are talking about teams to be competitive then it has to be the premiership.
City, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea can beat anyone on their day (or in Chelsea's case out-last anyone)
Also Newcastle, Everton and Liverpool would always give tough games. No other league have THIS many strong teams.
I knw ppl would point to Bilbao embarrassing Man U but I'd put this as a one-off rather than say Bilbao is BETTER. Likewise I wudn't rate Chelsea above Barca or Bayern. -
Re: Premier League best in the world? Why Madrid though? They've done absolutely nothing in Europe for the last 10 years. 11 different teams have been in the final since they last were..(Original post by sreddi11)

Re: Premier League best in the world?Tbh I jst put in Madrid based on the last two years. 2 semi-finals and winning La Liga aren't that bad(Original post by manchesterunited15)
Why Madrid though? They've done absolutely nothing in Europe for the last 10 years. 11 different teams have been in the final since they last were.. -
Re: Premier League best in the world?
I think a lot of people here don't really know much at all about the spanish and german leagues because quite honestly they haven't experienced enough games like they have with the premier league. Yet some even claim to know every team and every player inside out from various foreign leagues.
I don't think anyone can say anything for sure unless they keep up to date with the leagues they are talking about regularly and really have a decent footballing knowledge. For instance, I know a lot about the premier league as I am sure most people here do as well; however, my knowledge of the spanish league is limited. I am aware of the fact that it is completely dominated by Real and Barca but when it comes to the other teams I don't have enough knowledge to comment - sure, I've seen Athletic Bilbao pummel Man Utd in the Europa league. Then again, Bilbao, as a result of those two matches against Man Utd, have been massively over hyped since. I am aware that they had some disastrous matches following their wide scale success in their Europa league campaign. In fact, statistics become something of an interest here: http://www.zonalmarking.net/2012/05/...ion-and-shots/
In summary, I personally feel it's quite tricky to compare leagues and teams. There has always been a definitive answer but I don't think it's a simple thing to contemplate.Last edited by Femto; 22-05-2012 at 22:41.
