Re: The philosophy cult? (the big questions)Stefan Molyneux of Freedomain Radio. He is a demagogue and a major concern. What the woman on the show described was very close to the mark.(Original post by Bill_Gates)
Did anyone watch the woman on the big questions about her son leaving her over a philosophy cult he found on the internet? Does anyone have a link to it? Apparently the guy who started it is Canadian and does weekly podcasts.
Thanks!Last edited by Rhadamanthus; 20-05-2012 at 11:41. -

Re: The philosophy cult? (the big questions)
"Molyneux and Freedomain Radio received media coverage in 2008 after several newspapers published a story about Freedomain Radio which centered around a member's parents, who claimed that Freedomain Radio is a therapeutic cult, after the 18 year old member left home and severed all contact with his family, an action that Freedomain Radio calls "deFOO" (borrowed from academic psychology, "FOO" is an acronym "Family of Origin"). In response Mr. Molyneux estimated about 20 FDR members had "deFOOed" their families, compared to 50,000 regular listeners.[39][40][41][42]"
Doesn't seem to be a cult, just seems a couple members went a little loony or had terrible relationships with their parents. I'm assuming http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...stole-son.html that is the lady? If so, she's clearly biased and mentions " Tom does say that he is frightened by his father's mood swings, which sometimes cause him to throw things or shout at the cat" so it's not as simple as him being in a cult. -
