    McDonalds question
    Hi all
I recently applied for a part time job as a customer care assistant at McDonalds. I was invited for an interview and attended and during the interview she asked me if I would consider being a crew member instead of a customer care assistant. I said "I think I would" not wanting to say no in case it gave a bad impression. At the welcome meeting I asked her how long it would take before i became a customer care assistant and she said shed hired me as a crew member because she thought id like it more but if i wanted i should e-mail her after my first shift and shed put me on dining to see if i liked it.
I was just wondering if they are allowed to do this; they've hired me for a job which I didn't apply for which pays less because of a small comment I made during the interview. Im worried in case she I email her after my first shift and she doesn't let me become a customer care assistant or keeps putting it off. Any advice from anyone?
    Thanks a lot
    Sam

Sam imo you should flag it up with her - she knows what shes doing and at the end of the day its about the money - so worth it. Chances are she wont 'sack' you for it. Worth it in my opinion. Speak up for yourself, who dares, wins - and all that

Do you think I should wait until after my first shift and then e-mail her like she said or try and contact her before hand? I just don't want to seem rude. The thing that confuses me is why she "thinks" id be more suited as a crew member... sounds like she's trying to pay me less to me...

yes do a shift first that was she will have gone to the effort of completing the recruitment process and getting you on payroll at least. which in turn means its more pro active to keep you, than let you go at this point. Foot in the door type thing. Its not hard for them to change your hourly rate. Yes email her like she suggested - (keep it safe for reference) she is pretty much inclined to hear you at the very least - its not being rude, its having your voice. If you don't speak up you are likely to miss out on the money. So i guess it's what is more important to you

Good advice, thank you. I've just been checking some of my emails during the recruitment process and it seems after the interview all the e-mails started mentioning crew member instead of customer care assistant. I must have dismissed this as a mistake or presumed they were still referring to the CCA but I do have proof that the interview I attended was for CCA and it was never explained to me that I was being hired as something different. I feel as though this is a very unfair thing to do to me and that Ive been taken advantage of since this is my first job and I knew little about the recruitment peocess
