So how did everyone find it?

How did people find the questions ??
I loved that the raging Maenad came up, but struggled to remember vases that were strictly in the second half of the 6th century- didn't mention Exekias or bi-lingual vase which would have been good for the question

Loves the raging maenad too-but wasn't sure about how typical they were of 4 century sculpture
I did the kleophrades painter call of troyas one of the pots in the essay-hopping they will still can't it as 6th century as it's on the boundary.
I didn't do bilingual vaseseither. Probably should have.
Please excuse my awful typing-I'm on my phone and my keys are sticky.
I completely forgot and stupidly did vases after the 2nd q of 6th i just didn't know what vases came under it and got confused
Im still not entirely sure what bold experiments and lively innovator , or something along those lines mean.
I thought it went relatively well, I wasn't particularly sure what to write for how typical and they had 2 images which didn't help but I liked the b question as I found lots to write about humanising the gods. The vases essay was pretty straight forward imo I just took innovative and experimental as anything different from before so I mentioned stuff like red figure, anatomy changes/foreshortening, exekias' use of the pot, the patterns in Euphronios. But I've really no idea how it will get marked as the marking seems pretty harsh.

Yeah - I did Berlin painter's Achilles and Hector, despite it being in really early 5th century- the question seemed geared towards the pioneers and yet it cut off half of them- come on OCR!

"vase- painting, in the second half of the 6th century was a period of bold exploration and lively experimentation"
- from Woodford - which OCR loves to use all the time, and she specialises in vague sweeping judgements, that don't really make lots of sense- I just repeated those words a lot throughout my essay!

did anyone else think it was unfair of them to say "early classical " for pediments, and "second half of the 6th century" for vases?
The phrasing was like they were trying to trip you up, wanting you to get it wrong!

Marking seems harsh?
Why do you say that?
For every year?

Harsh is probably the wrong word to use. I more meant compared to all the Virgil questions I and those in my class have done, it seems harder to get the marks + looking at marked scripts we've got back. I need an A overall so hoping the examiners are friendly this year
Our prescribed material only has four 4th Century sculpture; Hermes and Dionysus, Raging Maenad, Eirene and Ploutos and Apoxyomenos; I don't understand how we were expected to answer both of those 25 mark questions with just these? Will the grade boundaries be lowered?

Yeah that's part of the reason I found the first question more difficult than those in the past but I sort of just did a comparison between and saying similarities were typical. I mean some bits such as the naturalism and drapery were typical but other than that there wasn't an enormous amount to say. IMO i thought the second question was relatively straightforward, but it does depend on how you've been taught etc. As for grades, I suppose it depends on how everyone did.

Same! I find I'm better at art than Virgil and I have an exam the day before Virgil so it's not like I can consentrate soley on that. Really hopping the grade boundaries will be lowered.
Any ideas what will come up?

For the second part of the question I only talked about both statues by Praxiteles but I went into a lot of detail about them. Is that okay? Or do examiners prefer you to talk about more?

90% of my answer was also only on the two by Praxiteles so I'm hoping it's okay. From what my teacher's said, and they used to mark scripts so I hope they're right, if you go into a lot of detail about a few it's as valid as less detail about many.
So how did everyone do? I got a B on this exam even though I answered the pottery question completely wrong and referred to outside the timescale! So pleased.. I am 1 ums off an A. Is it worth a remark? Or should I just be happy since I got into uni anyway
