Re: athletic or too thin?Translation: you can't be bothered so will settle for mediocrity.(Original post by *Rouge*)
Yes but that's the body shape that I like so why is that a crime? -
Re: athletic or too thin? Not at all - I run five times a week knowing full well that it won't do much for my body shape but I don't care because I enjoy it. Not everybody is obsessed with body image and use that as their sole reason to exercise.(Original post by Dark Horse)
Translation: you can't be bothered so will settle for mediocrity. -
Re: athletic or too thin?THANK YOU, finally, someone had to say it...(Original post by HFerguson)
skinnyfat as ****.
Does she even lift?
edit: read through the replies, mind blown -
Re: athletic or too thin?I can't figure out if you're(Original post by Dark Horse)
Ok, now I feel bad for you. I feel bad for people who don’t know any better because it’s not their fault, they just happen to not know any better so people can’t get tight at that so now I’m going to make you realize the truth behind all this. I’m going to go step by step and tell you what you’re doing and how ridiculous it is. I don’t need to know your name because that doesn’t justify who you are as a person; based off all these previous judgmental opinions you’ve been claiming on me, I already know the type of person you are and it’s sad you can’t realize it yourself but once again, it’s not your fault, you don’t know any better.
a) serious
b) trying to be funny
c) an ********
Most likely a mix of the three. -
Re: athletic or too thin?Good for you.(Original post by *Rouge*)
Ok seriously, this 'skinnyfat' hype on tsr is really starting to annoy me. Have you ever considered that not all girls want the kind of body that results from weight lifting and some prefer a softer look? You seem to imply that unless you lift you can't have a good body which is just ridiculous.
You have to understand that this is a fitness forum. Most of the regular contributors define a 'good body' differently to the average person simply because the standards we set for ourselves are so high.
When people ask how do I lose weight/tone up/get fit we give them the information to do this in the most efficient way possible (eat right, lift heavy and sprint). All other methods (barring the odd genetic freak) will result in a person becoming skinnyfat.
We don't like skinnyfat, nor do we find it attractive (as a general rule) because it's just kinda, well, 'meh' really. Sure, you may be healthy and all that **** but it's hard to understand why anyone would chose to be mediocre over being awesome.Last edited by Old School; 22-05-2012 at 16:42. -
Re: athletic or too thin?I can help you to understand why. Not everyone has the time to work on having the perfect body. Most people are happy being fit, healthy and 'skinnyfat'. It's hard to understand why you choose to be ignorant over being open-minded.(Original post by Old School)

Re: athletic or too thin?Oh ffs there's more to life than a 'awesome' body. I was simply stating that different body types can be attractive and it's not limited to one type. Clearly that's a difficult concept for you to understand.(Original post by Old School)

I can help you to understand why. Not everyone has the time to work on having the perfect body. Most people are happy being fit, healthy and 'skinnyfat'. It's hard to understand why you choose to be ignorant over being open-minded.As I said, it's a preference. Most girls don't find me attractive because I'm 'too muscly' (lulwut?). How is that OK yet me and others on here not liking untrained physiques ignorant?(Original post by *Rouge*)
Oh ffs there's more to life than a 'awesome' body. I was simply stating that different body types can be attractive and it's not limited to one type. Clearly that's a difficult concept for you to understand.
Also, everyone has time to train properly. That excuse never flies.
One more thing, why the hell do you even care that a very small group of people don't find you attractive? Are you that egocentric? -
Re: athletic or too thin?I think most girls don't find you attractive because you have an unattractive personality.(Original post by Old School)

Re: athletic or too thin?TBF, there's a difference between merely saying you don't find something attractive and saying it's mediocre. Saying that the girl isn't muscular enough, has too much body fat etc. would be the equivalent of what 'most girls' think about you.(Original post by Old School)

Re: athletic or too thin?lol says the person who makes that judgement over a couple of lines of text on the internet. Don't think I've said anything particularly nasty other than 'I don't find girls who don't train attractive'.(Original post by QTpie118)
I'll think most girls don't find you attractive because you have an unattractive personality.
Do you have opinions? I bet people who disagree with those think you're a real meanie. -
Re: athletic or too thin?Mediocre:(Original post by rlw31)

of only ordinary or moderate quality; neither good nor bad; barely adequate
undistinguished, commonplace, pedestrian, everyday; run-of-the-mill
Hardly an insult. If most people look a certain way then surely that means that it's pretty darn ordinary. -
Re: athletic or too thin?In the sense of classical aesthetics, what people find attractive is actually very scientific - mathematical ratios and what have you. Shame on me for putting pressure on people to exercise and strive for self-betterment.(Original post by *Rouge*)
I really do see what you're saying but to imply that the OPs picture is 'unaesthetic' is ridiculously harsh imo. It' people like you that put pressure on women to conform to a given body type and believe that they can't possibly look good unless they have it. Can you not appreciate that a different body type can also look good?
What people who don't lift can't seem to understand, is that lifting weights is just as much about training the mind as it is the body; when the body is weak, so too the mind, and vice versa. -
Re: athletic or too thin?Fair enough, no, nothing nasty.(Original post by Old School)

Is that a rhetorical question? People who disagree with my opinions simply disagree with my opinion, besides my opinions don't tend to cause offense to people for them to think I'm a meanie. -

I can help you to understand why. Not everyone has the time to work on having the perfect body. Most people are happy being fit, healthy and 'skinnyfat'. It's hard to understand why you choose to be ignorant over being open-minded.1) It's a preference.(Original post by *Rouge*)
Oh ffs there's more to life than a 'awesome' body. I was simply stating that different body types can be attractive and it's not limited to one type. Clearly that's a difficult concept for you to understand.
2) This is The Fitness Forum - Most people here are trying to becoming as strong as they possibly can, and look good at the same time; which is most likely the fundamental reason they lift.
3) If you have a very fit body, it's natural that you'd also find very fit bodies attractive or as something you'd find alluring..
Also..it really doesn't take that much time to achieve a good body. Anyways, improving on the physical side of one's life is more productive that what the majority do in their daily lives....
----------------
PS: I've never stepped foot in a gym my entire life, but I still understand why people do it and why anybody with a body 'less' than good, is considered 'meh'. -
Re: athletic or too thin? The concept you seem to struggle with is that you gain more than just a good body from lifting. For those who are actually into the iron game, it can be very spiritual.(Original post by *Rouge*)

you can be fit, healthy and aesthetic as **** if you train the right way. Why not have it all(Original post by QTpie118)
