what possible question could there be for the cabinet, EXOP or federal Bureaucracy?
    - Whether or not the federal bureaucracy is too biog/too hard to control
    - Rivalries between the cabinet & EXOP (why they exist, + the consequences/solutions)
    - The significance of the cabinet

That's the main ones they could ask

surely none of those are big enough for a 30 marker? I know they are in the bennet text book, but fb is barely mentioned by aqa spec, and the text book caters for edexcel also where they are more important...

Ohh they are I've written decent essays on all of them.
Even when things are barely mentioned by the spec they can still come up (case in point, a few years ago there was an essay Q in the GOV3A paper about split-ticket voting...I'd have CRIED if that came up, nowhere near enough for an essay for definite!!)

For the size/control issues of the fb, you'd do paragraphs on why it has expanded (basically all the same reasons as why federalism expanded - industrialisation etc), then problems like iron triangles and clientelism, then the various reforms that presidents have tried to amke, then the ways in which Congress can successfully check its power. Bam, essay.

For the cabinet/exop rivalries that is more likely as a 10-marker, I imagine, but they can be mean.

For the significance of the cabinet, well you'd look at all the various functons and evaulate them - team-building (stops being important after the first few), policy debate (hard becase of all the specialists), advisory fucntions (the president has EXOP for that) etc.

Breaathhee :P it's way too late for revision now, best thing you can do is go to bed and get a good night's rest any cramming now is unlikely to help, sadly. Just relax, try and do your best - remember to evauluate and analyse things when you write the essays, structure them well, and you're halfway there good luck!

Aah, in my desperation I failed to see AQA in the title of the thread, haha! So I was right earlier, there is no thread for Edexcel US politics, all the other people seem to be taking the EU option.

May ahve come up as a 10-marker, hasn't come up as a 30-marker yet though. The only past paper Q's I've seen (i.e. all of them that are on the website) have been on the president's power.

Really don't understand how they'd ask a 30 mark question on Federal Bureaucracy, I swear I could only think of enough for a 10 mark question? Wouldn't mind the Cabinet though if it's not one on The President!

For cabinet would you literally list everything like what it does, the make up of it, where they get people from cabinet from and how it can be bad due to iron triangles?

what you reckon for the 30 then? it won't be separation of powers cause it was that last time and surely they won't do amendment/suitability for the 21st century again.

Yep it will. Or basically even though it is rigid, it is flexible discuss. Amendment Process, Judicial review and conventions. Essay done. Haha.
