Ten best players in the world
Who would be in your list of top ten players in the world (based on current form/ ability-obviously can't include players who are currently injured).
I know it's really hard to choose, but this is what I would go with:
1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Argentina)
2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid & Portugal)
3. Andres Iniesta (Barcelona & Spain)
4. Xavi (Barcelona & Spain)
5. Iker Casillas (Real Madrid & Spain)
6. Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan & Netherlands)
7. Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United & Serbia)
8. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich & Netherlands)
9. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United & England)
10. Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus & Italy)
What would your list be? Who would you choose? -

Re: Ten best players in the world
1) Lionel Messi
2) Cristiano Ronaldo
3) Robin Van Persie
4) Mesut Ozil
5) Xavi
6) Andrea Pirlo
7) Vincent Kompany
8) Wayne Rooney
9) Manuel Neuer
10) Yaya Toure
Could have put in Alonso, Scweinstiger even though he missed the penalty, Gomez but he seems to shy from the big moments, David Silva, Giorgio Chiellini, Mats Hummels, Cech and Huntellar.
Didnt put Iniesta in it because this season hes been pretty poor by his standards lots of injuries havent helped either should bounce back next season though. -
Re: Ten best players in the worldI spot an issue with your reasoning(Original post by deej3005)

7. Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United & Serbia) -

Chiellini and sneijder should not be on that list. Ozil and ramos are better than those two in the respective positions. Neuer is better than casillas and van persie is better than rooney, rooney carries united, but they would still be in top 4 without him, if they had that duck chamakh, arsenal would be in the bottom half this season. -
Re: Ten best players in the worldI dont reaalllyy think that classifies as an argument tbh.(Original post by jam277)

Because United still came 2nd, just, without Vidic for the majority of the season, does that mean he isnt a world class CB? -
Re: Ten best players in the worldBut the thing is you have cover for vidic, smalling, jones and evans can cover for him, might not do as good a job, but at least they do a job rather than the donkeys known as chamakh and park. Van persie carried his whole team for a whole season and got them in the top 4. That's something you'd expect ronaldo or messi to do.(Original post by Tommyjw)

Can you say the same for van persie with other options like with vidic? No other striker has scored a league goal besides van persie for arsenal which pretty much sums up their options.
I was just comparing rooney to RVP and saying that's why I think RVP is better, not to say rooney doesn't deserve to be in the list, just that RVP has a better claim in my view.Last edited by jam277; 21-05-2012 at 02:19. -
Re: Ten best players in the world
Not going to compile my own right now but on current form I would have Falcao in the top 10. The guy is a bear, playing for a good but unspectacular Atletico side, compared with most of the players mentioned so far who play for the top teams.
Few of you including Iniesta despite the fact that he has been wholly underwhelming this season. Obviously he has the abilityto be a top 10 player but based on this season, not for me. -
Re: Ten best players in the world
Anyone who says Sneijder (or Forlan for that matter) clearly doesn't watch any football and goes off reputations. Both have been awful since the WC.
These sorts of lists are always unfair on defenders and goalkeepers anyway.Last edited by CB91; 21-05-2012 at 03:04. -
Re: Ten best players in the worldHe's not though is he? He'd definitely be in the top 20 or so, he's a great player.(Original post by Vijay2010)
As long as nobody mentions Neymar, I'm happy. Easily the most overrated player on the planet
-
Lucas Moura is just as good as him. I think Ganso is the over rated one.(Original post by mau5)

Re: Ten best players in the worldI really don't think he would be! He's playing in the Brazilian league, where the quality of teams are nowhere near the quality in Europe.(Original post by mau5)

If he moves to Europe and still performs, then I would gladly agree with you
