There was a question about "Representativeness of questionnaires (4 marks)"
    I wrote
"Similar type of people may fill in the questionnaire, which makes it unrepresentative.
For example: Unemployed working class, or someone who has 3 exams in one day and is so stressed out for useless questions"

    King of indirect. Me.

You dont really need to include sociologists in the official statistics do you? just why positivists use them because strengths .. etc? then evaluate them?

Was quite an easy paper like!

Got an A in this last summer.

    Just some tips:

Make sure you evaluate every sociologist/perspective/study you state. There are more AO2 marks available than AO1.

Try and suggest trends. There's nearly always two sides to a perspective, use this as a driving force to adapt your wider context.

For the shorter questions, state and explain. Don't need to write much as long as you have said what the term is and have given an example.

For the methods in context question, focus on METHODOLOGY. If you can bring in education, great, do so. I had a question on truency.. had no writers/theories to use. Just went with Practical, Ethical, Theoretical and Social issues around that data.

In the longer questions, try and use postmodernism to bring your discussion more up to do date and less deterministic.

Finally PLAN! even if you don't have much time. It will 100% make you not repeat yourself, make your discussion more coherent and allow you to elaborate on points.

    GOOD LUCK!
Read this post this morning and found it extremely helpful. Thanks

For the two factors, I said the ethical guidelines may effect their decision on what to study... and included Milgram and Bandora as my examples (Both broke ethical guidelines) Would that lose me marks!?

Also, for the last question I just spoke about all of the physical, ethical and concepts I could think of to explain the advantages, as well as mentioning primary/secondary data and surveys...

For the research methods question about Official Statistics, you don't NEED examples.
If you can have a nice flow of writing and be especially clear about what you're talking about, it's all gravy.

You do need examples to relate it to an "area of sociology"

    e.g. Durkheims suicide statistics...

At least, that's what I think....
Unless you talked about different types of statistics and said how it can be used for sociology research such as demography - marriage rate...
but then again you'd still have to given an example....

    Erm...

Well since the wording of the question was Advantages to the Sociologist it would probably have been a good idea to link it to someone. I don't think talking about general advantages would cut it.

Wouldn't mind a social policy essay. I would like gender to come up as that's a fairly easy topic to remember. The way they ask the questions bug the hell out of me. Hope its just a straight and simple question not all this " assess the view that education only serves.... blah blah.
