    Completely and utterly disgusted
I recently read in a thread on TSR that in 2011 a 14 year old boy killed his mother with a hammer before setting her body alight. This reminded me of the James Bulger case that a teacher had told me about, when two 10 year olds killed and tortured 2 year old James. These two cases, and others like them made me wonder what causes children to commit murder? Surely it cannot be just because of the programmes or films that they watch, as many children watch violent programmes on TV, and very few become killers. So what is it? Is it their personalities, or their upbringing, or what?

Video Nasties ever seen Child's play jeez that film is ****ed up :L Nahh truthfully, its difficult to say, personally it is a combination of biological traits and upbringing.... Primary socialisation is very important. A child that is subjected to violence throughout his / her early years will become desensitised to violence and more likely to commit acts such as murder... still very shocking

Kids do not become killers because they play violent video games/watch violence on TV etc. There are various reasons a kid could grow up to become a murderer.

    > Environmental factors (Family environment, area of living, etc)
    > They are predisposed to certain behaviours and thought processes, which can come into prominence during any time of their life.

Those are just a couple. I think that a kid who is exposed to forms of media which portrays violent and adult themes has a chance of becoming relatively desensitized and perhaps an alteration in their behaviour, however behaviour can be rectified with the right parenting.
