    No unexpired passport
My passport expired in February and I haven't applied for a new one yet, and I'm applying for student finance.
It says I can send them a birth certificate and a declaration from someone that has known me for two years to help support my application.
But this isn't compulsory and I don't have to send them any documents, but it says 'not supplying any of the listed items may cause a delay to your application.'
What does this mean? How much of a delay? Does it mean that I might not get the money at the beginning of term?
I don't want to send in my birth certificate unless I really have to or if I might not get the money in time... so I was just wondering how much of a 'delay' they mean when they say it might be delayed...

Do you want your application to run smoothly, and without any hassle?
