Re: Clegg warns of a rise in extremism should the Eurozone break up.
We have to look at it in perspective, one reason UK now has very low interest rates is because there is generally a trust that HM Government would always pay and honour it's debt obligations, gilts have always paid, the same can't be said about the vast majority of Europe where defaults happen every other decade or so.
The breakup of the Euro might indeed see a rise in extremism, no doubt about it, remember the Nazi party also rose to fame because of hardships during the Weimar era. If we look at the situation in Greece now, extremism has already set in with their extreme right Golden Dawn party winning a fair few seats.
While NC is an *******, not everything that comes out of his mouth is garbage. -

If Greece leaves the Euro having defaulted on its debts, the EU will break up. This would be disastrous for everybody, Britain included. It would cause untold socio-economic chaos and cause nothing but problems. The EU must continue! Why on Earth does anybody want out of it?

Re: Clegg warns of a rise in extremism should the Eurozone break up.
I'd love to see, say, greece elect a communist party, hungary to adopt a far-right party (the one in power is the equivelant of UKIP and the main opposition are a Hungarian Front-nationalist BNP style party!), a a few far-left parties here and there, no, not like the so-called French "socialist party" too, I mean proper leftists, but central and eastern europe, always has a tendancy to lean towards nationalist leftism, too, maybe some Classical liberal parties arise in Austria, Denmark, Holland, etc etc
We could see all the different systems, watch a bunch fail, watch a bunch suceed, and makes particular groups of people eat their words. -
