Electronic Throttle Control
Is it just me, or do you struggle to start moving when you are driving a car with an electronic throttle control?
It makes the accelerator so sensitive, I can't keep the revs or biting point steady.
Any tips from any one?
(My instructors car is the mechanical accelerator pedal, but my parents have a car with the electronic throttle, which is hard to use! -
Re: Electronic Throttle Control
Sensitivity shouldn't make it any more difficult in moving away. If anything, it should give you more revs than required, so should help to prevent stalling. Practice makes perfect.
One thing to consider, though, is whether you are holding your feet in the correct place. Are you heels firmly on the floor as an anchor point with ball of foot and toes teasing the pedal up and down? Of course, a lot depends on the layout of the car and the nearby wheel arch. From experience, I've found that a lot of people who are struggling to control the car are simply using the wrong technique or have the seat too close to the pedals. -
Re: Electronic Throttle Control
Thanks. I find that I push the pedal and it revs really high and loudly, and when I try and find the biting point I can't hold it for long (whilst I do the look around thing). Also, I stall it when starting off sometimes, I think because it's hard to hold the biting point.
Next time I go out, i'll make sure I have my heels on the floor. (I wouldn't know if I do at the moment because I don't think about it)
