After reading up on this I think I may have IBS - a few months ago I became severely constipated for up to a month, but I'm feeling slightly better now as I have bowel movements once every 2-3 days, whereas it used to be once/twice a week for a number of years. But I am experiencing a lot of discomfort in my abdomen and passing more wind than usual, particularly after eating, and I still struggle to pass stools - I am only able to excrete to the point that my stomach stops hurting, but I can not excrete fully. I'm not sure whether it is down to my poor diet the last few weeks, but even when I was constipated I was very healthy :s

Whenever I wake up in the mornings I feel awful! It's the same every day and I'm fed up of feeling so ill first thing in the day...does it sound as though I may have IBS?
Yeah it sounds like it. You should still get it checked out to rule out other, more serious diseases though. Could you explain that last part a bit more though?

Yeah I will do ... in the mornings I experience abdominal pain and I feel the urge to go to the toilet but I do still get constipated, not as severe as before though, so it can be pretty uncomfortable for up to a few days if I'm unable to go!

Yeah, I do get cramps if I take my dog for a walk - mainly after eating though. This is also usually when stomach aches occur.

The bit that worries me about a colonoscopy is having to drop your trousers in front of someone. I'm not really that kind of person- I have really low self esteem and it just isn't something i'd want to do :/

Ohh I see. Has it always been this way or has it only started recently? I used to get very bad cramps in the mornings when I was younger

Don't worry too much about this the doctors would have seen worse before, and they probably will see worse for many years to come. I highly doubt they're bothered about it at all (if they were they wouldn't take the job)

Interesting, do you think there's a kind of person who does like dropping their trousers in front of doctors? :P I just really like the idea of there being a ton of people who get their kicks taking off their clothes in front of doctors...

Noo! I mean that there are people who aren't bothered that much about doing it. Not that they like doing it, just they aren't bothered

    Is that for IBS?

What kind of things made you think you had it?
Diarrhoea, bleeding from behind, severe abdominal pain, nausea, premature fullness, rapid weight loss.

They thought I had ibs when they did those tests. It ended up I don't. Had to be hospitalised for 3 weeks for them to figure it out lol.

Anon failed on this earlier lol

if your not sure try improving your diet, cutting down on known tummy upsetty things (eggs can make you constipated, dairy can make you "go" if your intolerant) also try increasing your fibre intake (but not too much, if you think its okay then dont) and also try drinking LOADS which you should do if you have a stomach upset of any kind anyway

if nothing helps, then you must go to the doctor, as you need to ensure what it is (if not poor diet) and get the appropriate treatment

Thanks. It is very likely that it is a bad diet as I don't eat many good foods, being a student.

I'll see how I can improve it to see if it changes
