Failing first year
Apologies if this is the wrong section, not sure where this should be posted.
I'm currently doing my first year of Uni being sponsored by a company that I worked with for a year. I've had quite a few health, financial and family problems throughout the year, so much so that I've missed most of my coursework assignments.
On reading up on my course web-page, it states that I need 40% in each module to pass onto the next year however the exams only count for 30%. Is there anyway to somehow get to the next year, or should I just phone up work and tell them I've failed and start looking for somewhere else to live and work.
I've already been to Uni once back in 2010 and failed the first year as I was working most of the year so that I'd have money to survive on. -
Re: Failing first yearProviding there's a genuine reason for you failing your 1st year, I'd recommend going to visit your GP. Talk to him/her about your issues & try and get a medical note for your university. That should allow you to either re-sit your exams in the summer or they may let you re-take the year.(Original post by NeedSome)

But don't go down the extenuating circumstances route unless you actually have a valid reason for failing the year.
Hope everythin works out! -

well i would call up work and explain ur situation. Stress that u have face problems. They MAY be willing to pay for your first year again. You never know unless you try
If you can, meet the person in charge and explain your personal struggles. Hope it works for you OP!
