Being on my period for prom
Basically, I brought my lovely dress ages ago and didnt really think any more of it. But its creme, almost white and I'm going to be on my period for prom.

Any advice on how to stop any leaking (ive never used a tampon before and dont think I want to risk it falling out or anything) improve skin, reduce bloating etc could be fab. I've got just over two weeks to go and its year 11 prom

    Thanks everyone xx

you can get tablets off your doctor that can stop your period temporarily. I personally wouldn't risk being on and ruining the dress.
Hope you have a lovely time though

Ask for northisterone from the doctor, it halts any oncoming periods - they will start again as soon as you stop taking the drug..

Tampons should never fall out if you have them inserted correctly. :curious:

Edit: If you decide to use a sanitary towel, the only thing to stop leaking would be to regularly change it whenever you got the chance, however I understand that this would be difficult because of the dress and all.

Dont worry. If you fuss over it, it will probably happen. Wear an ultra pad and pray for the best!

I'd just make sure you were wearing big knickers so your pad would be secure and make sure you bring enough pads and remember to change them. I've had plenty important occasions when I've been on my period but I wear tampons so it's not really an issue - I'd recommend trying them out so even if you don't want to use them regularly you would maybe confident enough to give them a shot if the same situation comes up!

i went on neurothisterone when i went on holiday to spain couple of weeks ago...all i did was rang up my nurse.
You have to take 3 a day from 3 days before your periods meant to begin. Once you stop taking them your period will come on within the next few days. Such a lifesaver tablet!
The tablets isn't on NHS so you have to pay for it...a grand total of about 2.50 in tesco :O
...and seriously, tampons are much less fuss...if you were using tampons you probably wouldn't need these tablets. I found them quite umm weird to use at first but you get used to them. Best discovery of my life how sad is that!

If you don't want to halt your period, wear a tampon (there's no way they can fall out if inserted correctly). Just make sure you push it in far enough and use the highest absorbancy one that will fit, and a pantyliner just in case.
I'd practice putting one in and testing with a pad a few days before your prom to check it won't leak. You're going to need some control pants (fitted Spanx style ones) to keep the pantyliner in place.

A tampon will not fall out. If you're not used to using them they may slightly dislodge, but that's a discrete bathroom trip, nothing more. Wear a tampon and a pad and you'll be absolutely fine.

onestly i think you should go to the doctor northisterone tablet i use it all the time! Because if youve not used a tampon before it may be difficult to get used to also using a pad could cause a leak just get the tablet

just stick on a thing panty liner as well if you're scared of leakage and choose a heavy flow range
you can leave the tampon in for 8 hours so you don't have to worry about it all night

The pill can reduce acne so you could always go on that.

Or I'd go with northisterone, there are no side effects except slight nausea which is very rare.

i'd say try to use tampons, and if your unsure that its in right (in all honesty i was VERY unsure when i first used them) wear a pad aswell. that way, even if it ISNT in right, then it doesn't matter and will probably reduce the chance of leaking anyway a good rule is if you can feel the tampon properly, push it higher

Tampon + pantyliner = all sorted.

Here's a weird thing I would also do....

Ok, so this is TMI, but it is true... when you orgasm it definitely makes you bleed more because it makes your uterus contract. If I were really worried about bleeding too much (I have bled through a tampon before when I used to have crazy heavy periods, and only after about two hours) I would make sure I came maybe an hour before I put a tampon in, then put in a tampon and a pantyliner or towel. Because you get rid of extra blood when you come, it's then a bit less heavy for a few hours afterwards, at least that's how it works for me.

Therefore, my solution to this, as to many things, is masturbation.

Unless you're like a cave down there, a tampon won't fall out. Wear a small tampon and a extra absorbant and long pad and go to the toielt a few times to check that the pad isn't filling up ie the tampon is full.
