Class and Voting (POLL)
I thought it would be interesting to see if TSR types vote along traditional class lines (i.e. the working class supporting Labour and the middle class supporting the Tories).
Select the class you identify as being a member of and the political party you would vote for if a general election were to take place tomorrow. -

Working Class - Monster Raving Loony Party -
Re: Class and Voting (POLL)Easy to tell them apart. One lot are completely unelectable, with ridiculous policies, no hope of contact with the real world and a leader who couldn't make a cogent political point if he had it heavily scripted and memorised before PMQs.(Original post by Aspiringlawstudent)

The other lot are the MRLP.
Also- Middle class, UKIP (unless the tories offer an EU membership referendum)Last edited by chrisawhitmore; 21-05-2012 at 17:52. -

You'd get rep if I had any to give. -
Re: Class and Voting (POLL)
Working Class (possibly lower-middle) - Greens
Well technically I don't vote in that I spoil my ballot, but so long as the Greens are trustworthy enough (not with a previous candidate running for UKIP in the by-election back in March) then they're the party I'd vote for.Last edited by Stiff Little Fingers; 21-05-2012 at 18:05. -

Re: Class and Voting (POLL)Environmentalist policies, decommissioning nuclear weapons, more council houses and housing co-ops, keeping the health service free, stopping bankers from getting such massive bonuses regardless of what they do, improving public transport options, a good drugs policy (banning advertisement and sponsorship by alcohol and tobacco companies, decriminalisation of marijuana), increased funding to scientific Research and Development for a start.(Original post by Aspiringlawstudent)
Why? -
Re: Class and Voting (POLL)
Lower middle, labour.
Reason: Live in the middle of a dirty great tory safe seat and don't want my mp getting complacent.
Bit conflicted about who I'd actually want to win government though tbh... Milli doesn't seem very primeministerial and i'm a bit creeped out by Blair starting to come sniffing around the party again. -

Though I bet they'd be against animal testing. -

The only thing I agree with.
Though I bet they'd be against animal testing.
And of course:
Not entirely sure I agree with that - for medicinal purposes it should perhaps be allowed, provided care is taken to not cause the animal anymore pain than is necessary. The Green Party would ban all experimentation and research which harms animals, including harmful procedures used to obtain animal-derived materials. 'Harmful' is defined in this context as 'having the potential to cause pain, suffering, distress, lasting harm or death in animals, except where it is designed to benefit the individual animals concerned -
Re: Class and Voting (POLL)The idea that every banker was responsible for causing the financial crisis is childish. Of course, individuals made errors that contributed to it, but to blame an entire industry is silly.(Original post by Alofleicester)

I can see why people would complain about bankers working in banks that are to a large extent owned by the state being given bonuses, but I see no reason why they should complain about those working in banks that aren't.
For example, I see no reason why anyone has a right to complain about Barclays bonuses, as they didn't get bailed out.
People must realise, however, that if people in such positions are not adequately paid they can very easily go elsewhere, and that would be much worse.
