I thought the listening was ok, but question 4 was a killer as expected. The insert was huge...

Section B I chose the 1st movement development one, which was pretty good actually.

Then Section C I did The voices one for musicals, which I think went brilliantly.

    Overall a decent exam.

I thought it was ok - i didn't revise a lot but it could have been a lot harder. The listening wasnt the easiest, there was a few challenging questions but I think i could have got maybe 25 marks? that sort of area anyway. For the beethoven I did the question on the development - i was writing for 45 minutes straight, so I think I got plenty in there! For the 3rd section we studied musical theatre, so i wrote about how one composer used voice, and i wrote about berstein - west side story, mainly the quintet, because he used the vocals to portray different characters an also 5 or 6 lines on 'somethings coming'. Overall, I think it went good!

Hi yeah i thought the listening was really nice compared to some past papers i've done. Got a bit mixed up with the excerpts though and answered the wrong qs for no. 3...don't ask! don't know what i was thinking  For the Beethoven i did the movement II one because i liked that movement better, it was smaller and i actually did the dance musical q, really really hope it went well!!!!!!!! fingers crossed for an A overall

I found the listening pretty good, surprisingly! For section B, I chose the 'structure and tonality in the second movement,' since the structure is just basically sonata form and tonality is just major/minor...And we did the Baroque music, so I thought the 'write about the music of a composer who contributed to the choral music of this period' was a really nice question (:

    How did you find it?
    Found it really hard

I thought the listening was really difficult and i feel like i chose the wrong essay cos i just the development one but on second thoughts i could have wrote more for the second movement And we did British Pop which I'm naff at and didn't write a good essay.

Don't worry, I'm sure you've done better than you think! Besides, if worst comes to worst, this exam is only 30% of your overall grade - so don't worry, you've done fine (:
    Aw thank you!!

I think that the listening was pretty good, although they possibly played each excerpt too many times - I managed to make a start on the beethoven essay after finishing each question! I did the 1st movement development question, and I think it was quite nice because I had so much of the listening time to do it. But I did the Baroque essay on a composer who made a large contribution to music, and I think it went really badly

Can someone please post a question paper/unofficial mark scheme? Thanks
